Australian Holiday Style | Green Island

Kimba Likes Australian Holiday Style | the antipodean labels I wore on my tropical Queensland holiday #kimbalikes @kimbalikes kimbalikes.com

Last week, I shared my holiday style for our family holiday to Port Douglas in Far North Queensland.  This week, I’m sharing my poolside style and what I wore when we holidayed on Green Island.  I’m continuing to fly the Antipodean style flag, by wearing Australian and New Zealand designers and labels for my Australian holiday style.

Australian Holiday Style | swim style

We were lucky to have our own pool at our Port Douglas holiday house, and gorgeous weather that made poolside living essential.  When we decamped to Green Island, we had access to a residents-only pool.  There are only 46 rooms on site, and only about half of them were filled with guests, so it was like having another private pool!

Unfortunately, by the time we arrived on Green Island, my sinus infection was full blown and the antibiotics were making me very drowsy.  I wasn’t really in the mood for swimming – although I did spend quite a bit of time reclinining on a sun lounger poolside!

I wore my ruched bikini top from Target with my Gorman rope print high waisted bikini pants, and tonnes and tonnes of sunblock!

Australian Holiday Style | Green Island style

We travelled from Port Douglas to Cairns to return the rental car and catch the ferry to Green Island.  I teamed a Bohemian Traders Line Tank with my Karen Walker DIY cutoffs.  I accessorised with pretty rose gold doily earrings from Bella Emporio RozelleUberkate necklace and Tory Burch leather and metal hairbow.

For the evening fish feeding and sunset drinks, I wore my Country Road silk trimmed top, Ziera sandals, my Neolithic Jewelry bangle, and added my family heirloom sterling silver coin case.

Boyo wears random kangaroo hat from Kuranda – as you do when it is 30 degrees – with Ksubi for Target T shirt, Industrie Kids shorts and Rivers sandals.  PS – he’s not quite as tall as me (yet!).  He’s jumping!

Australian Holiday Style | Crocodile Style

We got to cuddle Cuddles the saltwater crocodile when we visited Melanesia Marineland on Green Island.  He’s five years old, and I’m actually holding the dangerous end.  His mouth is taped for safety, but he’s not wearing nappies!

I’ve teamed a Vigorella striped tunic over a pair of 7 for all Mankind denim cutoffs.  The tunic is slightly too short to wear as a dress, particularly with the higher middle hem, but slightly too long to wear as a top.  Holiday style is all about compromise.  Not to mention the passersby who didn’t deserve the horror of me accidentally flashing them!

My Bok Bok B’Gerk coffee cup earrings are from Vintage Pip – aren’t they fun! My very pretty rose gold Blush of Simplicity necklace from Blush & Co teamed perfectly with my rose gold Mimco Dinosauria clips.

In the evening, I switched the shorts for my Three Parsons Denim Tencel Pants (now on sale!)

Australian Holiday Style | Bohemian Traders Linen Pants

A slightly cooler day saw me relishing the opportunity to whip out a pair of pants from my suitcase! I teamed my Bohemian Traders linen pants (currently on sale!) with a Metalicus peplum top.  I broke my own rules by teaming oversized with oversized.  Rules are made for smashing, after all!

I accessorised with my Uberkate heart necklace, sandals from OZSALE, sparkly hair bobby pin from Sister in Style, my new arm party BFF Neolithic Jewelry bangle, and vintage crystal drop earrings from Shabby Sisters (now sold out but lots of other gorgeousness!).

Australian Holiday Style | Pom Pom Kaftan

Our final day on Green Island found us hanging poolside and visiting the crocodile park.

I teamed my gift shop purchase, a 100% cotton embroidered and pom pom-trimmed kaftan, with Witchery broderie anglaise shorts.  Click here to read my tips on how to wear short shorts

I accessorised with sandals from OZSALE, my Port Douglas Markets coin pendant suspended from a lavender seed pearl necklace, and my resin bangle from Neolithic Jewelry.

You know how you often comment that you wish your holiday could last for longer? No one ever is pleased that this comes in the form of a delayed flight.  Just saying.  Luckily, it was only 45 minutes late and we were all tucked up in bed by 11pm.  The Blokefolk even managed a sleep in!

Have you visited Green Island? It’s a great favourite for Cairns day trippers too.  Look out for my post all about Green Island soon.
