I took Bagvember on the road. To Byron Bay, to be precise, accompanied by the Gorgeous Girls. We got our restaurant on, we got our sunbathe on, we got our shopping on, we got our drinking on, we got our party on, but most of all, we got on. Six girls, two apartments, two bathrooms and a lot of hangovers – that is why they’re the Gorgeous Girls!
We arrived in Byron Bay to an absolute monsoonal downpour – we were definitely in the tropics. Except it was freezing! The other girls were trying to keep their hair dry – I was more worried about not marking my gorgeous Mimco Tattoo Bubble in this glorious green colour. Isn’t she a beauty! The Welshman and Boyo gave her to me for Xmas a couple of years ago.
The strap can be altered so it can be doubled as a shoulder bag or worn bandolier style across the body. I think this may be Boyo’s favourite – he is very proud of his shopping skills!
Desperate times call for desperate measures and on Bagvember Day 11, this Typo iPad bag came out to play. Doubles beautifully as an evening bag. Not bad for a fiver! At the last minute, I switched back to my Mimco. Just too pretty to leave at home. My main bag for the day, however, was a handful of shopping bags from our Gorgeous Girl shopping trip. Oh, did we shop!
Bagvember Day 12 and it is one of my favourite bags of all time – this gorgeously embroidered tan leather Jigsaw bag. It is huge but surprisingly light. It epitomises boho luxe. I did have to get the bandolier strap shortened – worn across my body, the bag banged against my knees. Not a good look.
So, what is this Bagvember stuff all about?
Have you heard about Borne Naked handbag liners? I love to swap bags and I use mine all the time.
Amanda George from Borne Naked has a Handbag Blog, where she showcases everything handbags. She’s a little bit obsessed (I know the feeling well!).
Amanda has issued a challenge for November. Firstly, she’s nicknamed it Bagvember, and it’s all about changing handbags every day for the month of November. Amanda thinks she probably has at least 100 bags.
I’m going to accept the challenge and change my handbag every day. For reasons of practicality, I’m not committing to 30 handbags in 30 days, but I am committing to changing my handbag every day.
My darling 8 year old Boyo loved Frocktober and very proudly told everyone he met that his mama was doing Frocktober. He brainstormed a pile of ideas for what I could do in November, and Bagvember was one of his ideas. It’s fate really, isn’t it! He also came up with Lipstickvember and Bravember and Knickervember. Hmmmm …
If you feel like joining her (and me!), here’s the easy instructions of how to join in!
