When a girl lives by the mantra “NEVER PAY RETAIL”, a gift with purchase ranks pretty highly in the excitement rates. Make that a gift with purchase from favourite department store brand Estee Lauder, with useful products you will actually use, and the excitement levels go off the scale.
As it happened, I needed a new under eye concealer and a new mascara, so I took myself off to David Jones today. The counter was absolutely besieged by ladies in need of new makeup with free goodies.
Estee Lauder are renowned for their quality Gifts with Purchase, especially as you get to select your options in regards to skincare and colours.
You start with a 7ml deluxe sample of Advanced Night Repair, then choose a 5ml deluxe sample of eye creme. The options are Advanced Night Repair Eye, Resilience Lift or Time Zone. The next choice is which 15ml deluxe sample of day moisturiser you will choose from DayWear, Resilience Lift or Time Zone.
Then it’s time to choose some pretty colours for the makeup selection. Choose Crystal Baby or Crystal Pink for a full size Pure Colour lipstick, and choose between Warm or Cool for a quality Face and Eye Colour Palette. The final selection is to choose either a Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara or a Sumptous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara in a 2.8ml deluxe sample. I selected the Lifting sample, and I’m really keen to try it out.
I love these samples – they’re the perfect way to try a new product before you stump up quite a bit of cash for them. They’re big enough to take away on holiday and small enough to pop into your purse for the day. I selected the Advanced Night Repair Eye, the Resilience Lift moisturiser, Crystal Pink lipstick and Cool palette.
The Pure Color EyeShadow shades are named Tranquil Moon, Sepia Sand, Amazing Grey, Amethyst Spark, Polished Platinum, Peacock Blue, Candy Crave and Smoky Ember, with Pink Ingenue Pure Color Blush. Can’t wait to have a play with this palette – or maybe I should save it for my next holiday, as they are perfect for travel.
I was assisted by a charming young lady, who recommended Disappear Smoothing Creme Concealer. I haven’t tried it yet but the description of “hydrating formula helps minimise the look of fine lines” and “Vitamin E and botanicals to help soothe away puffiness” sounds like a winner for a person fast approaching her Big Four Oh My God. Puffiness isn’t really an issue for me, but
deep craters fine lines definitely are.
I’ve also been noticing some darkness in my inner eye region that my trusty YSL Touche Eclat can’t sort on its own. Time for a better quality concealer underneath so the illuminating magic of the Touche Eclat can do its thing.
My charming assistant recommended that I mix a drop or two of Advanced Night Repair Eye Creme (must get the Welshman to pick some up next month when he’s
gallivanting working hard in Singapore) with the concealer to form a paste to pat on the under eye region. I will definitely give this a go.
I also repurchased my favourite Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara. Click here to read my tips on applying mascara. It is not cheap but I really do think it lasts longer than a budget brand, gives me lovely long fluttery lashes and comes off in warm water. What’s not to love about that?
All in all, I was very happy with my Estee Lauder Gift with Purchase for David Jones. It’s available until 28 July 2012. If you’re in the market for some new Estee Lauder products, you’re in for a treat with this fabulous gift.
