Festival of Kimba
Happy birthday to me! Today, I am forty frocking four. I’m off to have lunch with the Welshman at Mr Wong’s today, with a spot of city shopping en route. It is the Festival of Kimba after all!
On Saturday, the Blokefolk are taking me out for high tea. I’m planning on wearing my new Gorman birthday gifts. Rude not to, don’t you think?
Festival of Kimba | five years of birthdays
In 2012, I had lunch with the Welshman at the divine Chiswick. My eyebrows were still in their regrowth phase, and I was in love with my GHD. I wore a gorgeous Metalicus waterfall jacket, Sussan printed pants and Josh Goot for Target merino tank.
In 2013, I celebrated my Big Four Oh My Gods with a fancypants dinner at Cafe Sydney private dining room. I mean it’s not every year you turn 40!
I wore a navy satin Cue wiggle dress with Portmans sequinned jacket, Alannah Hill fishnets, Mimco heels and a beautiful bespoke cocktail hat by Embellish Atelier.
At the Welshman’s suggestion, I dyed my hair for my party. He was expecting platinum blonde but I went red instead with a rich copper shade. I love it so much that I’ve been red ever since!
In 2014, I wore an elephant patterned Leona Edmiston dress and ballet flats with ASOS blazer for my birthday lunch. We went to the Hyde Park Barracks Cafe, where we celebrated our wedding reception in 2002. Ah, love sweet love.
In 2015, I had a fabulous cup of tea with a new friend, Sarah from She Writes, during the Festival of Kimba. That morning cup of tea turned into an all day shopping trip and chatfest and now I can’t imagine my life without her in it.
There isn’t something much more fun than buying a new car on your birthday!
Fish & chips by my favourite beach, the gorgeously retrocute Balmoral Beach, finished up the 2015 edition of Festival of Kimba.
I wore a Country Road plaid shirt, Feather & Noise poncho, Mavi skinnies and Lack of Color hat.
Last year, I had my birthday lunch at Chiswick again, albeit The Art Gallery version. We checked out the Archibald, and I was channelling a little Melbourne chic in 17 Sundays leggings, Harlow sweater dress and Senso ankle boots.
I hope you’re having a fabulous day on my birthday!
