Sharing some of the things that have made my Friday Faves lust list this week.
Friday Faves | the perfect trans seasonal jacket
I have had my eye on a piece of clothing from the Monika Forsberg x Gorman collaboration for months. The quilted denim jacket, in the sweet Elephant Tea print, is a new design for Gorman and I was unsure about spending $300 on a piece I wasn’t sure I’d wear often.
So I patiently waited until it hit the sale section and snapped it up for $99. It made the perfect lap blanket for a movie trip with the Blokefolk. Jumanji also makes my Friday Faves, actually!
I will be teaming it with stripes and double denim and dresses and schnuggly jumpers. It will be perfect for working on my laptop too. Keeping me nice and warm but without sleeves getting in the way of my keyboard.
Sometimes good things come to those who wait!
Friday Faves | Frugal February with What Brooke Wore
A nice segue into the next Friday Faves, a sustainable style challenge with What Brooke Wore. Brooke is committing to not shopping in February. Check the list for your daily prompt, style an outfit, snap a pic and share with #WBWFrugalFeb and @what_brooke_wore.
Her shop your wardrobe challenge is perfect to demonstrate why we don’t need to shop as often we do. I know I have some pieces in my wardrobe that I literally keep just to meet a daily prompt for a style challenge. I have pieces I’ve never worn or worn once. I have bought things that I know I already own but can’t find. It is exhausting to maintain a massive wardrobe, and quite ridiculous too.
The plus size celebrating girls at @curvyAU are also running a sustainable style challenge. If you’re an inbetweenie like me or plus size, then join in too! Just tag #CurvyAUchallenge #shopwhatyagot and @curvyAU. Double challenge nailed!
Oh and speaking of challenges? A perfect lead in to #AutumnStyleFile kicking off 1 March. I’m already working on some daily style prompts. Let me know – 14 days? A month?
Friday Faves | #knottietuck with Champagne S’il Vous Plait
Rachael from Champagne S’il Vous Plait has championed the easiest way to customise your clothes ever. Just tie a knot in it!
I’ve long been a side tuck fan, and I’ve been knicker tucking with skirts and dresses long before Camilla made it a thing, but knotting is something I’d completely forgotten about.
Inspiration struck on a ridiculously hot and humid weekend day with a Gorman dress that is way too short for me to wear as a dress and way too long for me to wear as a top. I threw on a pair of Sussan linen shorts underneath (bought months ago and never worn; the shame!) and tried a side tuck, a front tuck, a full tuck (I looked like a hot air balloon) and even out (it just made me look like I had gigantic knickers on underneath). Finally, I remembered my stylish friend and her knots. Et voila!
Friday Faves | #rainbowweekoutfits with Ali
Ah, Friday Faves has a challenging theme this week! Another style challenge; this one inspired by a meh week of neutral outfits. The lovely Ali (fashion designer at Philosophy Australia and @ali_lennard on Insta) decided to dress colourfully for a week. Luckily, the rainbow has seven colours for seven days! ROY G BIV, or Richard of York gave battle in vain, or whatever you wish!
Look out for my Wardrobe Wednesday post detailing all my rainbow outfits! Not too late to join in – Saturday is Indigo and Sunday is Violet! Just tag #rainbowweekoutfits @ali_lennard
