Happy Birthday, Vivienne Westwood! One of my favourite fashion icons, the First Lady of Punk celebrated her birthday this week. Let’s just say she’s a lady of a certain age – and still rocks it hard!
My friend B over at B Being Cool did a fabulous Vivienne Westwood outfit post this week, which inspired my outfit for the day.
Make sure you pop on over to B Being Cool and check out B’s fabulous outfit selections.
Vivienne’s alphabet goes from A for Anarchy, to C for Commando when meeting the Queen, to M for Malcolm McLaren, to S for Sex, her famous 1970s design boutique, to V for Vivienne, to W for Westwood, and ending in Z for a ZZZZZZ nanna nap. Vivienne is now 71 and entitled to the odd nanna nap, sans knickers if she chooses. I luff her!
In homage to the First Lady of Punk, I teamed a budget friendly skull foil print tank from ICE with a gorgeously feminine paisley print Cape Crusader cape from Shabby Sisters, added some orange skinnies from Country Road and anchored the black and gold top with black and gold Leona Edmiston ballet flats. A rose gold Topshop studded hairclip held back my retro cute brushed out curls. The piece de resistance of my outfit is, of course, my gorgeous Vivienne Westwood Bas Relief pearl and pink Swarovski choker. A black croc print vegan lady bag by Guess tied the whole outfit together. The lipstick du jour? Had to be a bold red and MAC’s Russian Red fits the bill perfectly. All items were purchased by my own fair hand.
I had no idea what I was going to be wearing today for my fadmin day – school run, groceries, blogging, chiro, Uno tournament with Boyo after school, supervising homework, cooking dinner, skipping out the bunnies … but reading B’s post this morning really inspired me for the day. Thanks for Boyo for the photography and styling advice!
Proof that reading blogs first thing in the morning whilst I’m sipping my morning tea and waiting for the shower to heat up is a fabulous way to start the day!
Luff the Cape Crusader from Boho Australia as much as I do? Run don’t walk to Shabby Sisters where $65 will buy you a lot of happiness and an extremely versatile wardrobe piece. Plus, you can pretend to be a superhero – and that is an experience money just can’t buy. Check out the gorgeous jewellery pieces whilst you’re there. I’m currently lusting after the Techno Collar (featured in my Wardrobe Boot Camp post for Styling You).
Love your work, B. Thanks for the inspiration!
Happy Birthday, Dame Vivienne Westwood!
