I’m really finding life so much better now that I’ve changed my diet, and am gluten free, dairy free, caffeine free and as refined sugar-free as possible. I’m only human after all!
I’m sharing three easy peasy lemon squeezy healthy snack life hacks.
Healthy Snack Life Hacks | dairy free salted caramel shake
I invented this recipe when I was craving something sweet and creamy that didn’t have refined sugar and was dairy free.
Simply blend together almond milk (I love Nutty Bruce), organic extra virgin maple syrup, organic vanilla extract and Himalayan pink salt crystals for a delicious salted caramel shake.
You can add ice cubes to make a salted caramel frappe. Whizz them up to make a thickshake. Yum!
Healthy Snack Life Hacks | marshmallow-frosted cupcakes
The right to a cupcake is an inalienable human right. Sometimes you just need one, right?
Click here for my cupcake recipe – just substitute the flour for gluten-free flour and substitute the caster sugar for coconut sugar.
To amp it up and make it even more super duper, I’ve got a healthy snack life hack to blow your mind. Strictly speaking, it’s not as healthy as kale and quinoa, but it’s better for you than butter icing!
When there are two – three minutes oven baking time left for your cupcakes, just pop a gluten-free marshmallow on top of each cupcake and continue baking for the rest of the time.
You’re left with a gooey, sweet, delicious frosting that will change the way you look at butter icing forever more. I know, I didn’t think it was possible either.
Healthy Snack Life Hacks | slice up your life
I live on avocados. I use them instead of butter. I eat them with eggs for breakfast. They’re the perfect accompaniment for prawns and lime juice. I smash them with feta for a delicious and quick meal. I grab a spoon and eat them as a snack.
The only trouble is that I can’t eat a whole avocado in one go, and they go browner than a pint of Guinness in a very short time.
Everyone knows the tip to squeeze some lemon juice over your cut avocado before sealing in an airtight container, but this healthy snack life hack is easier and betterer.
Instead of squeezing a lemon, just cut a few thin slices and layer on top of your cut avocado. It will keep it fresher for longer and there is a much better chance you won’t accidentally squirt lemon juice in your eye. Or is that just me?
