I picked up a pair of gorgeous Jeffrey Campbell Everly boots in the Boxing Day sales at an amazingly reduced price. Oh my goodness. I paid about a third of the RRP. As soon as they arrived, I caressed the smooth soft leather and tried one on my left foot. You know how one foot is often bigger than the other? For me, it is my left. If the left shoe fits, I know the right will be fine.
A few months later, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer for the weather to cool down enough to debut my new babies, so I decided to wear them for the Fox in Flats Style Dare Boots prompt. Imagine my horror when I realised I had TWO left boots!
I can’t really blame the retailer – can you imagine the drama llama of sending out all those Boxing Day sale orders? A warehouse-wide search took place – no missing right boot. Not even one. Finally a search of the retail store located not just one missing right boot but two. What a winning situation. I got my bargain Jeffrey Campbell Everly boots in a wearable pair, and the retailer was able to make another girl very very happy.
Jeffrey Campbell Everly Boots | Flat Lay Outfit Planning
Chibi Jewels earrings, Sarah-Jane silk top, Sunspel cotton skirt, KeepResin bangles, Jeffrey Campbell Everly boots
Last week, I shared how much I love the Flat Lay for outfit planning. It works beautifully at a glance and is much more fun than throwing a pile of clothes onto your bedroom floor as you’re getting dressed.
Unfortunately, these flat lays didn’t translate well. The printed full skirt was too voluminous under the oversized silk embroidered top. The plaid shirt was more busty bar wench than cool cowgirl.
Jeffrey Campbell Everly Boot | What I Wore
My next attempt to wear the boots for the Fox in Flats Style Dare was for Wild West. I’m more of a Mild Inner West type, but always up for a challenge!
We had a Fun Day Sunday family trip to Luna Park, right smack bang in the middle of the gorgeous Sydney Harbour. So retro cute. They say never to eat anything bigger than your head but I just couldn’t resist freshly made fairy floss!
I wore my Jeffrey Campbell Everly boots with a Part Two Aztec printed skirt and an embroidered oversized Sarah-Jane silk top. I also had to wear socks. High humidity, new shoes and oedema is not a good combination. I think it is way cooler to bust out the socks than bust out in blisters. Am I right?
The Part Two cotton skirt works where the Sunspel cotton skirt didn’t, as it is fitted from the waist to the hip. Wearing boots with bare legs is a new thing for me – and one I like! The trick here was to keep the boots and skirts tonal – my pale legs helped the cause too!
To tie in with the Wild West theme, I thought a little outside the box. My Mexican embroidered Sarah-Jane silk top fitted the bill, with a nod to Native America with my turquoise and silver Mimco resin hairpin. I’m wearing gold arrow earrings by Chibi Jewels from Kamali Moon. The Aztec pattern on the skirt wasn’t quite right but let’s just pretend. Of course, my Jeffrey Campbell Everly boots were perfect!
I added a stack of KeepResin bangles, just because I could, and carried my Mimco Tattoo Bubble bag in Seafoam – a gorgeous gift from my Blokefolk.
Remind me of my desire for the weather to cool down when I’m whinging in a few months about how cold it is, ‘kay!
