Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas
Yes, that’s right. It’s Father’s Day this weekend (in the Antipodes anyway). Still stuck for Father’s Day gift ideas? Don’t worry, the Welshman, Boyo and I have brainstormed some last minute Father’s Day gift ideas just for you.
Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas | Family Rules & Photo
You can never go wrong with a family photo. I picked up this little baby from The Reject Shop for $15, used some photos left over from Boyo’s birthday thank you notes to the family, and Kimbafied them with some craft paper and decorative elements.
I know it’s a bit cheesy, but I kinda love the Family Rules too. I’ve been looking for some for a while, but these really summed us up beautifully. We actually use some of these phrases in our family.
Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas | The One with Beer
My favourite gift idea (the Welshman loves it too, funnily enough) is to take Boyo to the local posh bottle shop, stand him in front of the International Beer Fridge and let him go to town choosing beers by their funny names and quirky labels.
It’s good for a laugh too – I don’t think the Welshman has ever quite recovered from the raspberry beer he received one year. Note from the Welshman – this present is also tops for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries and just general surprises.
Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas | Me Time
The Welshman is wont to complain that Mother’s Day is all about mothers getting Me Time and time away from their precious progeny – all those spa vouchers, shopping trips and long leisurely breakfasts in bed – whereas Father’s Day is all about fathers spending lots of time with their kids.
The Welshman is extremely uxorious and loves us very much, but one of the best gifts he could ever receive? A day by himself! Especially if the fridge is well stocked with a fine selection of Man Food and cold ales, and there’s some sport on the TV.
Take the kid(s) out for a few hours – a movie would be perfect, suggests the Welshman – and give Dad some Me Time. He’ll thank you for it, plus you’ve got the perfect excuse to eat ice cream and see the latest kids’ movie you secretly wanted to see!
Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas | Get your paint on
Want to get the kids involved in a Make Your Own present? La la love this idea. Set up a painting station (outside or in the garage works for us!) and get the kids to decorate a T shirt for Daddy.
Handprints and footprints are good for really little ones, or maybe they’d like to do a Jackson Pollock? Pin the T shirt to the washing line and have some splatteringly good fun! Dad will have the best top in town! This is such a tops idea! See what I did there. It’s called a “dad joke” – very top-ical! Oh stop already!
Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas | Treat Bag
This is a great idea for the Granddads as well as the Dads, and goes particularly well with the International Beer idea. Grab a decorative gift bag (or use the left over paint from the Painted Tee idea and handprint a plain paper bag), hit the supermarket and deli and fill with Dad’s favourite foods.
You can buy hampers filled with goodies, but there’s always something weird in it that languishes in the back of the cupboard until the next spring clean! Making your own ensures Dad gets exactly what he loves.
You could decorate an insulated supermarket bag if the Dad in your life is more of a deli delights kind of guy instead of a sweet treats dude.
What are you doing for Father’s Day this year?
