Leona Week

Flicking through Twitter the other week, I was inspired by Cath Byrnes who tweets and blogs at Cathy Two Shoes, who was posting photos of her personal style challenge – wearing Leona Edmiston dresses for a week.  You can check out her Leona Week here.

I’m a big fan of the work of Ms Leona Edmiston myself and have one or two (OK, a few more than that!) of her lovely dresses in my wardrobe.  I’m super lucky because I live very close to her lovely Balmain Leona Vintage store, and have picked up a few amazing bargains over the years.  Not to mention the treasures I’ve gleaned from markets, eBay and opshops over the years!

So, I decided to run with the idea and started my own Twitter hashtag #LeonaWeek.  I even got a tweet from Leona on the Leona Edmiston account, saying how thrilled they were about #LeonaWeek!  Thank you so much for the support from all the lovely Leona Edmiston girls.  I really appreciate all the retweets!

Leona Week Day 1

I’ve teamed one of my favourite Leona Edmiston winter dresses with a navy boucle Country Road jacket, a Leona Edmiston black leather belt, midnight tights from Sussan and navy flats from Forever New.  The headband is Mimco.

Leona Week Day 2

This is a great trans-seasonal Leona dress, teamed with the Leona Edmiston leather belt again.  I’ve styled this dress with a Trent Nathan beret, a Kookai crochet cardigan, Forever New cobalt tights and Ziera black platform pumps.

Leona Week Day 3

When I know I’m going to be seeing my Gorgeous Girl Gill, I need to do an outfit check with her.  We both have and love this dress!  This is a Leona dress with fun red buttons, that I’ve teamed with a retro Blooms melton wool jacket, red tights from Sussan, a red Mimco hairclip and of course a red lip for Kiss Goodbye to MS Day!  My trusty Rockport wedges get an outing, along with my favourite Burberry scarf and Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q backpack.

Leona Week Day 4

This is a fab jersey dress in the loveliest purple, which I’ve teamed back with a Witchery military-inspired jacket, dotty Basque tights, my beloved Wittner lady  heels and my even more beloved Classic Q.  The headband is by Alannah Hill.

Even my iPad got into the Leona Week action!

Day 5 - ballet flats

Friday found me on a day of running errands and doing last minute preparation for Saturday night’s Rozcars event.  In the interests of comfort, I wore a FCUK sweater with Seed Femme skinny denim cargoes, Laura Ashley fun socks and my lovely Leona Edmiston black suede and patent leather gold studded ballet flats.  They’re so pretty!

I also wore my gorgeous Leona Edmiston green tortoiseshell cats eye sunglasses.

Oh, I adore these shoes!  They are the Holy Grail of shoes.  They instantly glam up anything you’re wearing, look amazing, go with a huge array of outfits because of the neutral blackened gold, and have their very own vintage-inspired glamour with their fabulous grosgrain bows.  Oh, and they’re seriously comfortable too.  I know!

Leona Week Day 6 - the piece de resistance

Would you look at this absolutely beautiful Leona Edmiston evening dress?  I picked it up for an absolute song at Leona Vintage Balmain with my Xmas money.  It was brand new from a few seasons ago, but for a girl who loves retro and bargains, it was an irresistible combination.  The colour, the retro vibe, the swish of the skirt?  I love it!

This dress was worn to Boyo’s primary school fundraiser, the Rozcars!  I dressed up as Elizabeth Taylor and styled the outfit with a glamorous Diva tiara, massive cubic zirconia heart shaped “diamond” earrings from Prue Trollope, a vintage black and white pearl necklace, a Mimco cocktail ring and Diva pearl and diamante bracelets.  The lace evening jacket has velvet collar and cuffs and is a 50s vintage treasure from Red Cross Balmain.

I got to hang out with many famous people, including George Clooney and the lovely Audrey Hepburn.

The dress even had a role in the movie themed Flash Mob dance I performed in.

Day 7 of Leona Week found me at home, snuggled up on the sofa trying to fight off a sinus infection.  I wore a Leona navy lyocell waisted tunic dress with bell sleeves over my Kmart bargainista grey leopard print skinnies with my favourite burnt orange Uggs.

But you’ll have to take my word for it, because I completely forgot to snap a photo!

I really enjoyed my Leona Week experience.  It was great fun creating my own hashtag and I was delighted when Leona tweeted about it.  I love getting dressed every day and getting to wear one of my favourite designers, Leona Edmiston, every day definitely added a touch more excitement to the process.  Check out the beauties here!

As proven, you can style Leona for the office, for a casual day running errands, through different seasons by adding layers, and even as Elizabeth Taylor!

Do you have a favourite designer?  Would you wear one label every day for a week?  I’d love to hear about it!

Why thank you!  My favourite thing about a Leona frock is how versatile they are.  You can really dress them up and down.  From a straw poll amongst the Gorgeous Girls, Day 2 was the work week winner too, so you’re in very good company! 🙂

They’re fab to pack too as they do not crush and can be washed in a bathroom sink and hung out to dry overnight.  ReplyCancel
