Makeup Utopia | Express Makeup eBook Giveaway

Express Makeup

 *giveaway now closed*

I’m very happy with my latest purchase – Makeup Utopia’s Express Makeup eBook.  I’m a huge fan of how to guides for beauty, fashion and style.  I should probably be more of a fan of how to guides for exercise … but let’s not go there.

Makeup Utopia is a perfect world for makeup – a fabulous beauty blog that doesn’t focus on hair or bodycare or skincare – just makeup.  Sara-May Monaghan, a highly respected makeup artist who is living her childhood dream, is the founder, editor and community manager at Makeup Utopia.  I’m a bit of a fan girl, just quietly.

Her amazing Express Makeup series has now been published as a fully detailed step by step eBook.  You can choose to face the world with your choice of 5 minute face, 10 minute face or 15 minute face.    Packed full of tips and suggestions, with beautiful photography, it is uber easy to use.

I purchased a copy and downloaded it to the iBooks app on my iPhone.  Propped up on my bathroom cabinet, the Express Makeup eBook makes me  feel like I have my very own personal makeup artist!

Whether you are a makeup virgin or a fully fledged cosmetic queen, you will discover something fabulous in Express Makeup.  I’ve been using contouring makeup for years but this morning, Express Makeup taught this old dog a new trick.  I watched my cheekbones emerge as though by magic.  Worth the price alone!

I’ve road tested one of the looks for you –  Smoky Eyes Express Makeup.  Because I’m a total makeup junkie, I decided to go the full glamour queen with the 15 minute look.  I’m really happy with the look and am so pleased to have learnt a new (magic) trick or three.

Here’s the guru herself, demonstrating the evolution of the Smoky Eye Express Makeup look.  I’m pretty happy with my interpretation!

Great book, I’m thinking with all the events I have coming up it would be very useful. Although being of a more mature age, I’m wondering if the tutorials wont end up making me look like a clown? The express part does really appeal to me though and I adore the smokey eyes.ReplyCancel

    • Kim-Marie Williams - 10 February 2014 - 3.18 pm

Nope, that’s the best thing about the book. Really simple, useful and wearable looks. I’ve got a few books that I’ve tried to recreate looks from and they’re ridiculously complicated and theatrical. Sara-May knows her stuff!ReplyCancel

I too am loving your eye make-up please, please, please do a vlog tutorial, even if you only show me. 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Kell Kelly - 9 February 2014 - 2.15 pm

I don’t often wear make-up because of a few reasons – 1. I never really took the time to learn when I was young and always went au’ natural and 2. I don’t ever seem to have time to make my myself beautiful.

My favourite express make up look is Cool, Calm and Contoured. I think because it isn’t over the top and it would be perfect for showing that I really do have cheekbones. That’s the problem I find with having a round head is that my chubby cheeks need defining in a positive light.ReplyCancel

    • Kim-Marie Williams - 10 February 2014 - 3.19 pm

I wear makeup every single day and I use loads of products to fake cheekbones. One little trick from this book and they literally appeared. I was so impressed!

I used to do my own stage makeup when I was little and doing tapdancing. Yeah, that doesn’t like me at all! 😉ReplyCancel

I love the ‘Pop of Colour’ look… I am always so safe with my make-up, I love the idea of a ‘pop’ of bright colour!ReplyCancel

  • Sonia@ LIfe Love and Hiccups - 9 February 2014 - 1.57 pm

Loving your smokey eye look lovely. I am sooo damn lazy when it comes to make up, maybe I need to invest a little more time and effort into this area 🙂 xxReplyCancel

    • Kim-Marie Williams - 10 February 2014 - 3.21 pm

Seriously easy. I just about spent more time buffing my BB Cream into my face than I did applying that eye makeup! You don’t need makeup with that gorgeous big grin! xReplyCancel

  • Vicki | The Fashionable Mum - 6 February 2014 - 9.52 pm

Oh well, that’s my evening’s entertainment sorted! I love a good make up blog, and like you, I’m a bit of an old hand with the slap, but you can always teach an old dog new tricks, hey?
I’ve had a quick shufty (don’t want to rush it!!) and I like the look of lips, lashes and brows. My lashes are definitely the bit I feel make the most difference to the way I look, closely followed by my brows, which are having a bit of a leave of absence as I get older.ReplyCancel
