Autumn Style File | one dress two ways
I don’t know what the weather is like where you are. In Sydney, we are either sweating it out in what feels like an outdoor sauna thanks to the eleventy billion per cent humidity and sunshine. Or we are in danger of being washed away in torrential rain and high winds. Surprisingly, it can be a bit chilly and still eleventy billion percent humidity.
Check out how I styled one dress two ways, for different weather in one day.
This is how I try to pack for holidays – pieces that can be worn on their own or layered with others for cooler days, and mixed and matched for different occasions.
one dress two ways | hot and wet weather
My dress is a retrocute print 100% cotton summer frock that I picked up in Queenstown on our recent family holiday.
It was a size too big but I just couldn’t leave that print behind. It just needs a layer underneath to keep me nice. I’ve folded the sides of the waist in, and secured it by tying the attached fabric belt in a big bow.
I’ve made it work for a hot wet day by layering a coordinating Metalicus tank underneath, and adding my new BFF. Yep, I’ve embraced the rainboot with open arms – and dry feet!
one dress two ways | cool and blustery weather
The evening was rain free, but a little cooler and a lot gustier. I added skinny jeans, worn as leggings, and a long sleeved T shirt for warmth. It has the added benefit of a super fun print clash. Florals and stripes just love each other!
My Breton T shirt is from Popbasic (how I miss them!), and my jeans are Wakee from Three Parsons (yes, I miss them too!). I recently discovered That Shop in Doreen stock Wakee denim – great fit, super soft and stretchy, and purse friendly!
My beloved Rollie derby lace ups add that pop of contrasting colour I love.
Big enough to carry my raincoat and water bottle, and small enough not to weigh a tonne, and classy with rich saffiano leather and 1940s inspired styling.

Now for a shameless plug. I’ve been super busy decluttering, and I’ve done a great job! I have piles and piles of laundry baskets and suitcases filled with fabulous clothes in need of a new home. Like this rather fancy pants show pony sequinned top.
If you’d like to shop my style, check out my eBay. There’s a variety of different sizes. Some items even still have tags on them!
Some items are from companies that I’ve worked with, but any items I’m selling were purchased with my own money. Gifted items that I’ve decided not to keep have been passed on to charity.
