In the Army style for Spring Fling Style File with Kimba Likes & She Writes

I contacted one of my favourite brands for go to everyday style, Rockmans, to collaborate with Spring Fling Style File. They came back to me with an awesome reader offer and offered to send me some pieces from the latest spring collection.  So fresh that they haven’t even hit the website or stores yet.

Unfortunately, the parcel didn’t arrive in time. Thank you very much pouring rain! So consider this a big tease for later on in our Spring Fling Style File challenge!

My key pieces for my military chic In the Army look were my classic Sportscraft trench, Boohoo camo bomber jacket, and my DKNY leather satchel gifted from Shopbop.

The trench coat was designed as a raincoat for Army officers by Thomas Burberry in the late 1800s and adapted in the trenches of the First World War.  The bomber jacket was created to keep military pilots warm in the First World War.  Both trench coats and bomber jacket have been inspiring fashion ever since.

My sterling silver dog tags were the perfect accessory for In the Army.  I bought them in New Zealand last year to celebrate my 20 year anniversary of moving to Australia. They show the history of New Zealand in iconography, from a silver fern to a sheep to a Maori waka to women getting the vote in 1893.

I teamed these In the Army pieces with my Ruby & Lilli Tribe, classic elastic sided leather boots from Midas and Just Jeans Power Stretch mid rise skinnies.

Spring Fling Style File | reader treat

I’m super duper excited to let you know that I’ve lined up a special treat for you for every day of our 14 day style challenge.  I know right?!  Due to the delivery drama llama, I’m going to save the Rockmans reader treat for next week.  You’ll just have to wait!

But don’t worry!  I’ve still managed to round up some treats for you.
