Top 5 Makeup Products Challenge

Top 5 Makeup Products

I’m all about lovely lists of Top 5 things at Kimba Likes.  I’m also unable to resist a challenge.  My friend and fellow blogger Norlin from Baubles Bubbles & Bags Style File has tagged me to share my Top 5 makeup products.  Click here to read Norlin’s Top 5 makeup products.

I cannot tell you how difficult this challenge was!  I decided to choose the five products that I use every single day.  Easy huh?  No, not easy at all!

On an average day, I wear a BB cream / CC cream / primer of some description, plus a little foundation perhaps.  I add a concealer, maybe two different concealers, plus an eye primer.  Followed by a powder of some description – either a setting powder or a foundation powder, depending on my first layer.

Next up is eye makeup – eyeshadows, pencils, liquid liners, creme liner – whatever takes my fancy for the day.  Eyebrow powder and / or a brow mascara, plus lash mascara.

Cheeks are next – a creme blush and powder blush for added intensity and placement precision, plus contouring with bronzer and highlighter.  A finishing spray sets my makeup and me for the day.

The whole shebang takes no more than 10 minutes and is mostly completely unnecessary.  I just love makeup!  I really, really do.

Top 5 Makeup Products

In order to create my Top 5 Makeup Products list that I use to create an everyday face, I had to work out what products I could drop.  If I have recently had a Lash Lift, lash tint, brow tint and eyebrow shape, then I could possibly do without both mascara and brow powder.  But, I really do love to wear luscious lashes and a defined brow, so they had to stay in.

Perhaps I could remove blush from the list and add a fab bright lipstick that could double as a blush?  I definitely couldn’t give up my concealer, but which one should I go for?

I needed a powder product but which one?  I tossed up between a bronzer and a highlighter, and then debated including a setting powder, or would a mineral foundation powder be a better option?

In the end, I went with versatile multi use products.  Smart thinking 99!

Catalina Geo Intensive BB Cream from Makeup Australia

I just love this BB Cream.  It gives me sufficient coverage that I can get away without a foundation, but if I choose to wear one, it works as a fab primer.  It has the all important high level SPF protection, and has the added benefits of being a blemish balm.

It made my  Top 5 Makeup Products list because it is a multi-use product and I truly adore it.

Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer

I discovered this amazeballs concealer when I had a makeover at Sephora when we were at Disneyland.  Sephora was Disneyland for me, but this Sephora was actually located at Disneyland Anaheim.  How cool is that?  It stays in place for  hours, doesn’t crease and is a vegan product to boot.

It made my Top 5 Makeup Products list because it works so wonderfully and can double as an eye primer.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone

BECCA is one of my favourite makeup brands and Shimmering Skin Perfector in the original liquid format has long been a cult product.  However, I just adore this new pressed powder version.  It is actually creamy – I have no idea how they manage that.  It highlights and makes the skin look lit from within, yet isn’t sparkly.  No one wants to look like a Twilight vampire after all.

It made my Top 5 Makeup Products list because it floats on top of the skin without settling into creases so well that I’ve actually used it, with a very light touch, as an emergency setting powder.

BECCA Halcyon Days Palette

I love a multi use palette – and this one has it all.  It can be used as eyeshadow, blush, lip gloss, lipstick, brow powder and eyeliner.  Neutral eyeshadows with a pop of colour in the lip and cheek cream, with a pretty gloss.  Fab!

It made my Top 5 Makeup Products list because of the multi use options, and is also how I managed to sneak a few extra products into my list – but don’t tell Norlin.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara

Last but not least, I selected this relatively new mascara that has attained Holy Grail beauty product status.  It really does everything – lift, lengthen, volumise, curl and separate lashes, plus it is blackest black and lasts beautifully.  With a fine eyeliner brush, you can even use it as an eyeliner.  It works fabulously as a tightliner on the inner rim of your upper eyelid, which makes your lashes look even fuller and more defined.

It made my Top 5 Makeup Products list because it is a cult product that lives up to the hype.

As part of this challenge, I’m required to tag three bloggers to share their own Top 5 Makeup Products.  Game on girls!
