I’m thrilled to have teamed up with the lovely Leonie MacLeod of Verily to introduce a fabulous new design, the Verily Cowl Shift Dress.
The Cowl Shift Dress, much like her big sister the Verily Shift Dress, one of Leonie’s Verily Classics, is incredibly versatile.
Wear it loose, or belted around the waist or hips, using the fabric tie belt supplied with the Cowl Shift Dress. The dress could also be worn blouson style, whether tied around the waist or hips, by pulling the fabric upwards and allowing it to blouse over the tie belt.
Alternatively, add a belt from your collection. The classic black and white print lends itself to experimentation – you could wear literally any colour with this print. But don’t stop there. Unleash your creativity – I’m imagining a leopard print belt. Oh, the possibilities are endless – a classic tan leather. Floral fabric. Aztec embroidery. Japanese obi-style. Neon skinny patent leather looped through itself …
We like to do things a bit differently in our family. So, to celebrate the last weekend of the Term 1 school holidays, and the end of the Festival of Boyo, we got all dressed up and went out for a fancy breakfast. The Glass Brasserie at the Hilton in the City is a gorgeous space, and the food! Should you ever find yourself in need of a glamorous breakfast, make sure you pop in.
I styled my gorgeous Verily Cowl Shift Dress with a stunning silk Boden rose-printed coat. I just love a bit of pattern on pattern. This combination is successful because both patterns are strong neutrals, black and red, and both feature white. I utilised the fabric tie belt, and kept it tonal with Steve Madden black suede peeptoe heels.
Red and pink is one of my favourite colour combinations, so I went all matchy matchy with a Wednesday by Hello Darling pedicure, L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse lip colour in Eve, pink suede tassel earrings by Red Phoenix Emporium and a gorgeous Lotus Mendes Goddess ring. To keep it interesting, I carried a Mimco Tattoo Bubble bag in seafoam green.
The slightly chilly morning became a gloriously sunny Sydney afternoon. This could have been my last chance for a while to wear sandals, so I exchanged the sexy heels for the most summery of sandals – white leather strappy sandals by Django & Juliette. I added my favourite crazy bunny lady See by Chloe tangerine canvas tote – perfect for carrying the bread home in style.
My Verily Cowl Shift Dress and I took ourselves for a walk to Rozelle Markets, to the bakery and off to a chiro appointment. We read a book in my tropage (that’s tropical cottage, in case you were wondering) garden, did some laundry, and pottered around. Later that evening, when it got cooler, I added a long line knitted Trenery beige cardigan, and my new dress and I snuggled up with the Welshman. He approves.
As a girl with curves, I do appreciate a well cut dress. Leonie has just got it so right with the Cowl Shift Dress. It hugs where it should and skims over the bits we are not quite so keen on. The cowl neck is particularly flattering for girls with boobage. You need to flash a bit of decolletage with a generous bust – it’s one of those visual illusion tricks. I’m not talking neck to navel cleavage – but covering up a large bust with a high neckline often makes you look bigger than you are. No one wants that!
The Verily Cowl Shift Dress is cut to reveal a hint of skin, yet still keeps you nice. The smoothing stretchy jersey fabric flatters curves in all the right places, yet is so comfortable to wear. It packs a lot of style punch for $90.00!
I felt absolutely gorgeous all day long in my Verily Cowl Shift Dress , and I loved that I was able to dress it up, dress it down, stay cool in the sun and warm at night, and wear it from sun up to sun down. This dress is an absolute must in my wardrobe and is definitely going on my Must Pack List for our LA trip later this year.
