I do love my Verily. Cleverly designed classic pieces to suit a woman’s figure and lifestyle. I shared my pick of the Verily Autumn Winter 2014 collection recently. Here’s how I styled my Verily Jacquard Pencil Skirt.
The Verily Jacquard Pencil Skirt is available in short and long length, and in Red or Navy. I selected the short length. Navy is one of my favourite colours so I went against the grain and selected the Red. A change is as good as a holiday and fashion is fun, after all!
I’ve sized down for this piece as I prefer it a little more fitted. The fabric is beautifully textured, and as it is double-knit, it is warm and snuggly for the cooler weather.
Verily Jacquard Pencil Skirt | ankle boots and swing cardigan
I’ve teamed my Verily Jacquard Pencil Skirt with basic black and grey layers, with a pop of red in my accessories. I’m wearing Seed ankle boots, Berlei Dig Free tights, and an amazing thrifted find, a Ginger & Smart cashmere knit. I’ve layered a Lil’D swing cardigan with fabulous crochet details over the top. This piece from Fashionista Depot was one of the heroes of my winter wardrobe last year, and will come in very handy again this year.
I picked up a Nanna knit beanie with crocheted flower detail in Strahan, Tasmania recently. It has come in extremely handy, as hats are a big feature of this week’s wardrobe. It’s not that cold and I’m not really that lazy.
Unfortunately, my innate klutziness did me no favours when I went ice skating with the Blokefolk on our Family Fun Day Sunday recently. I knocked myself out and the big bump on the back of my head, not to mention the sore neck, is making washing my hair a task that I don’t want to tackle. Hello hats, my new fashion BFF!
I’ve added some grey and red Verily Tassel Beads – strung wooden beads with a leather tassel (tassels! I love them!) and a string of Eb & Ive chunky red resin beads.
My handbag du jour is a Sterling & Hyde Jane bag. Don’t you love her jaunty little bow?
Verily Jacquard Pencil Skirt | flats and cape
For the second outing in a week of my Verily Jacquard Pencil Skirt, I stayed with the same colour palette. I layered a grey silk mix Elsom oversized boyfriend knit under a charcoal knit cape from Target.
My hat of the day is a thrifted Sass & Bide linen knit hat, picked up from the Rozelle Red Cross. Sass & Bide donated a huge pile of amazing pieces to the Red Cross – I love that! It’s a win win for everyone – me included! This knit hat had lost its original tassel and needed a few stitches, so it is now a Kimba Likes Sass & Bide collaboration!
I’ve added a little pop of colour with my Red Phoenix Emporium apple green semi precious stone bracelet, and my yellow Mimco Jalabee Timepeace. The projected high was 21 degrees today, so I thought it was the best time to pop on a pair of my favourite Mox flats – it might be the last time for a while! Teamed with Spanx Tightend Footless Under Heel Tights in black for a little extra warmth – it wasn’t quite as warm as I thought it was going to be!
I’m carrying a classic Mimco kiss clasp handbag with snake print detailing. The strap is the perfect length to carry it insouciantly from one shoulder, or to wear cross body style. She makes the perfect clutch too.
I love how versatile the Verily Jacquard Pencil Skirt is. During the day, I can adjust it depending on my mood! I can pull it a little higher on my waist or fold it over at the waist (when worn with a loose oversized top) to make it shorter. I can wear it on my natural waist or pull it lower onto my hips for a sexy below the knee style. I think this look would work best with a heel.
