Wardrobe Wednesday | The Perfect LBD Giveaway

Wardrobe Wednesday

Welcome to Wardrobe Wednesday!  I’m delighted and honoured to be taking over the hosting duties from Kelly at Kiwi Womens Style.  Every Wednesday, you are invited to share a fashion post with the Wardrobe Wednesday Glam Squad.  Anything you like … as long as it is fashion related.

Share an outfit you loved and tell us why it made you feel so fabulous.  Perhaps share a favourite piece that you’ve styled for different occasions.  One piece styled several different ways.  Perhaps be brave and share the story of a piece you just can’t make work – the Wardrobe Wednesday Glam Squad may just be able to offer some suggestions!

If you’re playing along with Nikki at Styling You for #everydaystyle, you are very welcome to join in the Wardrobe Wednesday fun.  Wardrobe Wednesday is all about sharing fashion inspiration – we love everyday style just as much as we love date night glamour.

What I Wore | The Perfect LBD

the perfect LBD

I absolutely love the first day of school – so I celebrated by rocking the perfect LBD.  I know I’m going to miss hanging out with my little dude, Boyo, because he is fabulous company.  Yet … the thought of uninterrupted time is, shall we say, somewhat appealing.  The new year is always filled with possibilities and opportunities.  It doesn’t feel as though the new year has really kicked in until school starts.

I couldn’t resist the opportunity to get dressed up for the first day of school.  My plan for the day involved coffee with the Gorgeous Girls, a little spot of op shopping on the way home and some terribly trashy TV that is simply not viewable during the school holidays … but the occasion deserved a gorgeous outfit, don’t you think?  I felt gorgeous and comfortable in the perfect LBD.

The Perfect LBD

The Perfect LBD | the company

During the school holidays, I was lucky enough to meet the fabulous Amanda Watson from The Perfect LBD.

Oh my!  I was captivated by Amanda’s charm and passion and amazing vision.  She took the concept of the Perfect LBD – the Little Black Dress – and reinvented it whilst retaining the classic style that the perfect LBD evokes.

Amanda worked with a fabulous pattern designer, Kylie van Wanrooy, the designer behind the amazing Beyond the Sea Swimwear label I introduced you to recently, to bring the vision of The Perfect LBD to life.

A worldwide search resulted in the discovery of the perfect soft jersey from which to create the perfect LBD – light enough to travel with and to wear in comfort, but just heavy enough to drape in a flattering manner, without the need for a slip.  This premium quality silky soft jersey holds its own against other much more expensive brands.

The collection is based on timeless silhouettes, which were then adapted to suit a wide variety of body shapes, with a view to enhancing or minimising the bits we want to show off and the bits we prefer to be draped in flattering fabric.

I am impressed with the attention to detail as befits a classic like the perfect LBD.

The Perfect LBD

The Perfect LBD | Wearing the Daisy dress

the perfect lbd

I was lucky enough to be given The Perfect LBD dresses for trial and review purposes.  You have no idea how much fun I had checking out the gorgeousness on The Perfect LBD online boutique and narrowing down my options.  The wishlist function came in very handy!

Finally, I whittled down my choices to the Daisy, modelled here.  The Daisy is a mock wrap, sleeveless dress with deep frilled cross-over neckline, A-line skirt and separate belt.  The deep frill acts like a cape and is oh so elegant.  As it is sleeveless, it is a lovely way to cover the tops of the arms yet feel a little bit cooler.

I added a pop of colour with red clog sandals from Target, and because I can’t resist accessorising, I switched the self fabric belt for a wide Jacquie E snakeskin print belt.

I’m going to wear this dress in the cooler seasons layered over coloured tights and a Verily long sleeved fitted slip dress, with ankle boots.

I also selected the Lila, a gorgeous batwing maxi dress, which I’m saving for another day to show off to you!

The Perfect LBD | The Giveaway!

I am absolutely thrilled to be able to give one very lucky Kimba Likes reader their very own dress from The Perfect LBD.  I know right?!  I feel like Santa Claus.

Just check out The Perfect LBD online boutique and tell which gorgeous dress you would love to add to your wardrobe … and why!

I am very tempted by “Ashley” for my body shape, and so easy to dress up or down.
A-line skirts are my new found love, very flattering, as are the cap sleeves and the 61 cm skirt length.
And the polyester/spandex jersey sounds like a dream to wear!ReplyCancel

  • Jewel Divas Style - 6 February 2014 - 3.39 pm

The shoes add that pop of colour. I’m not a dress gal, it’s the issue of fat thighs rubbing together so I prefer pants. That way, if there’s a wind or I fall over, no one’s seeing what I had for breakfast!ReplyCancel

  • Caitlin - 6 February 2014 - 10.59 am

I’ve been lusting over LBD’s stock for a little while now, just waiting for the funds to allow a purchase – a win would be great! I love the Lexi. The sleeves just add that bit of difference.ReplyCancel

Hi Kimba, I would choose the Emma or Ashley or the Marilyn? Gotta have a LBD for our 7 year wedding anniversary, hubby’s 40th & Valentine’s Day (Yes-all in February) Lucky me!! I might have to link up with your fashion post next week, even though I am not a fashion blogger but it looks like fun! You look gorgeous as usual-love the red shoes with the LBD.ReplyCancel

  • Robyn (@slightly_deep) - 5 February 2014 - 10.25 pm

Wow! What a great giveaway 🙂 Loving that dress on you Kim. I’m a fan of the Adele or the Estella, I think those styles would do great things for my shape and could be my staple dress this winter! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Di Hester - 5 February 2014 - 10.12 pm

I wanted it to be daisy like yours, however Marilyn it is. Perhaps she would give me as much confidence to strut it as THE Marilyn. These ladies know their stuff ReplyCancel

  • Christina @ Hair Romance - 5 February 2014 - 9.13 pm

That dress looks fab on you! I love the classic Audrey or Marilyn, named after two of my fave style icons. Teamed with a leopard heel, it’s a style classic. Leopard is a neutral, right?ReplyCancel

  • Amelia Hickman - 5 February 2014 - 5.01 pm

You look lovely in your new dress 🙂 I love a LBD or two (or a few more)
I thought the Amelia dress is very fitting – its my name and it suits a hourglass figure which I have, however I really like the daisy dress too. I’m a big fan of being able to dress up and down my clothing depending on the time of day or event I would like to wear it with. I think both of these would look just a chic and beautiful for either day or night matched with some fun accessories.ReplyCancel

Audrey is my kind of dress because it’s so classic for day time, but add a sequinned jacket + a statement necklace and we can kick back until the wee hours XReplyCancel

You look absolutely lovely! And the red shoes and your red hair… just gorgeous! Although I’m a pear shape, I still would go for the Audrey shape for its versatility and layerability. 🙂

  • Kate Mac - 5 February 2014 - 10.37 am

The ruffled neckline of Daisy looks gorgeous on you Kimba! I love a classic wrap dress for it’s versatility; so it’s Emma for me. She would be comfy enough for daytime Mama duty with a ballet flat, but also glamorous with a heel and statement necklace for date night. Love a LBD day or night xxReplyCancel

  • Your Cheeky Monkey - 5 February 2014 - 10.01 am

The Lila!!! I really only wear Maxi’s these days… and combined with the relaxed fit and longer sleeves, this dress is perfect for any occasion – going out for dinner, school drop off and pick-up, and comfy enough for working at home and looking after my toddler who is with me full-time. I also really like the dress you picked! looks gorgeous 🙂 thank you!ReplyCancel
