I’m sharing what I wore for the first event in the Festival of Kimba, and how I took my weekend style from chic to casual.
We are big celebrators in the Kimba Likes household. Christmas is so much fun we do it twice a year with a mid winter celebration too. We adore Easter – lots of bunnies and chocolate. Plus it’s a great time to have a staycation in your own city as nearly everyone goes away. What’s not to love?
Where we really bust out the celebrations is for birthdays. Birthdays are a big deal around here. We celebrate Birthday Festivals for at least a week. They’re not considered over until the very last present arrives from overseas. Handy with all our relatives living outside of Australia.
The Welshman’s birthday is very early in the year, and we make an extra special effort to make sure it’s not missed in the Christmas New Year holiday maelstrom. Boyo’s birthday often coincides with Easter and is always in the school holidays. He has celebrated his birthday in different countries and states, and had birthday cakes baked by various hotel kitchens and restaurants. Winning!
My last birthday was the Festival of Kimba to end all Festivals of Kimba. After all, it’s not every year that a girl turns the Big Four Oh My Gods.
This year’s Festival of Kimba is understandably a little quieter. Unless the Blokefolk surprise me with a Cafe Sydney private dining room dinner party and tickets to LA to hit Disneyland again, that is.
We’re still putting in a respectable performance. The festivities kicked off the week before with a slap up fancypants buffet breakfast at the Hilton Sydney. We got up early, got dressed up and ensconced ourselves in a cosy booth for a couple of hours. We might have eaten so much we didn’t need lunch either. Good times!
Weekend Style | Chic
I teamed my Katies A Line Tunic with a Sussan yellow cropped jacket, Katies faux leather and ponte leggings and Nine West tan ankle boots. I kept the accessories really pared back to let the printed tunic and the colour pop jacket do all the hard work.
I carried my Country Road denim tote, a Christmas gift from the Welshman a few years ago, and wore my Usual Suspect jewellery pieces.
Getting out the door early meant working with bedhead. Mad curls with a sparkly Mimco headband was the best option!
Weekend Style | Casual
Smart cropped jackets are a fabulous thing to have in your wardrobe. But so are snuggly oversized cardigans! The rest of my day involved a different sort of weekend style. I exchanged my chic jacket for a casual Trenery knit, and switched the chic boots for a more casual Target biker style version.
My Honeydew & Violet vintage bunny necklace was a gorgeous thinking of you gift after we recently lost our darling Mr Bunsy. Isn’t that darling? Check out more Honeydew & Violet that I’m currently crushing on.
A snuggly fluffy beanie from Lady Chatterley’s Affair was the perfect style multitasker. Not only sorting out my madly windblown hair, but keeping me nice and warm.
I’m linking with the 30+ Style & Beauty Link Up Party, hosted by that fabulous babe, Rachel from Redcliffe Style.
