Oh, don’t you just love Christmas holidays! The days, bracketed by Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day, are filled with R&R in the sunshine, catching up with friends, watching movies, reading books, maybe some shopping and lots of eating and drinking! The Welshman is working through – so we can take some time later in January for a family holiday in New Zealand.
I’m sharing my Christmas holiday style – everything from ladylike skirts to sporty shorts and everything in between!
Christmas Holiday Style | Christmas Eve
For the last three days before Christmas, it was all about Camp Kimba! I had three kids in the house whilst their mama brought home the bacon. Day 1, it was Wii Central. Day 2, we went out for lunch and to the movies. Day 3, a trip to the swimming pool with the Welshman in tow. Thank all the gods old and new for the Welshman – I couldn’t keep up with three kids in the water!
In the afternoon, we popped some Champagne, ate some oysters, lit the firepit and made s’mores.
I threw on some GAP denim shorts, slipped on some Burberry flats, hopped on some Sportsgirl bunny ears and added some spots and stripe glam with my Ruby & Lilli Nautical T shirt.
Christmas Holiday Style | Christmas Day
I added a Shabby Sisters tassel and crystal necklace, a gorgeous gift from the original Shabby Sister, Kylie. Goes beautifully with my rose gold Mimco bangle from the Blokefolk.
Christmas Holiday Style | Boxing Day
Ah, those Boxing Day feels! All about comfy casuals and relaxation. We slept in, ate pavlova for breakfast and had good intentions of going for a walk. Plans foiled by rain and Boyo’s blisters, poor dab.
Christmas Holiday Style | lunch with friends
Our final Christmas festive occasion was all about a late lunch with friends. The kids disappeared upstairs to play Guitar Hero, the adults settled down with some delicious food and even more delicious wine.
Later in the evening, more s’mores and a few rounds of Just Dance! Fun for the whole family!
Christmas Holiday Style | shopping and swimming
I braved the local shopping centre for some grocery essentials and to exchange a gift. Dear gods. I’m still recovering. After the Great Battle of the Car Park, I decided to treat myself to a little spot of shopping. You see, my local supermarket is at Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre. It would be rude not to, right?
Later in the afternoon, the Blokefolk went for a swim.
I’m wearing a French Connection fur gilet, and jewelled headband from Alannah Hill, purchased in the morning. A cooler day was the perfect excuse to roll with some summer fur! Worn over my Feather & Noise Santorini maxi skirt and Seed silk tank, and my go to Ziera sandals, for a boho chic look.
Christmas Holiday Style | shopping with Boyo
The lure of the Westfields voucher that Boyo received for Christmas was strong! We headed out to Burwood, where I picked up a gorgeous City Chic skirt, replacement Lisa T for Target rose gold flutes (smashed one!), a Pavement onesie for Boyo, Jay Jays T shirts for the Blokefolk and some groceries. Unfortunately, we left with Boyo’s voucher intact. He didn’t have quite enough for a GoPro (like about $200 not enough), and couldn’t find anything else he wanted to spend his money on. Clothes don’t count, by the way!
Comfort was the order of the day so it had to be a Ruby & Lilli T shirt – the gorgeous Ampersand Luxe – and Bohemian Traders drop crotch pants in khaki. My ubiquitous Ziera sandals and Kate Spade Mya came along for the ride.
Christmas Holiday Style | guinea pugs
Boyo has been asking for a pug for what feels like forever. You know how that goes! We made mention in passing of a “guinea pug”, and before we knew it, we had committed to adopting a pair of guinea pigs. I know right?!
The Welshman and his brothers had guinea pigs as kids. Florence, Peanuts and Olga de Polga – bless!
I’ll share some snaps of our new family members when we pick them up after our New Zealand holiday.
I teamed my new City Chic full skirt with an Acne Studios blouse, and defined my waist with a mustard patent leather Gorman belt.
No need to mention the Ziera sandals. They’re just so comfy, and go with everything, that I can’t take them off! I’m eyeing up a pair of FRANKiE4 MARGiE sandals as their replacement when they finally cark it.
Christmas Holiday Style | New Year’s Eve day
A sticky day calls for a sunhat and a sunfrock. We’re heading out later for the 9pm fireworks as a family; then I’ll head home and leave the Blokefolk to stay for the midnight Sydney Harbour extravaganza. I’m thinking printed pants, T shirt, denim jacket and kicks. Comfort is key!
I’m wearing my Mimco boater for Style it Project, with a Sussan sunfrock I thrifted recently with the tags still on, and rather fabulous Gorman platform wedge sandals.
What have you been doing during the Christmas break? Has your Christmas holiday style been fairly shoe free, like mine? Were you guilt tripped into new pets?
