Today, I’m linking up with the lovely Lauren at The Surprise Beginning on her new blog hop linky Really, Really Ridiculously Good Looking Monday!
I’ve just been away for a midwinter Xmas in July weekend in the Blue Mountains and I’m ashamed to say I wore polar fleece. And Gore-Tex. At the same time. In public. I wore a wool headwrap as well as a woollen beret. I wore my cashmere scarf with my dressing gown, jersey pyjamas, hiking socks and uggs when it was my turn to get up early in the morning with the kids. I also took layering to the extreme until I resembled a Sara Lee danish – layer upon layer upon layer.
I completely lost my waist but I could feel my feet so I was happy. Did I mention it was a bit chilly in the Blue Mountains? In the sunshine and protected from the wind, like in the beautifully sunny conservatory at our hired holiday house, it was absolutely beautiful. Outside, it was brisk. Cold. Brass monkeys. But oh so lovely. And a great excuse to drink hot chocolate! The Welshman, by the by, spent most of the weekend wearing shorts. As you do.
Let’s dissect this outfit, shall we?
- Sportscraft woollen beret
- Mimco woollen head wrap
- Kathmandu polar fleece jacket
- Sussan long sleeved tunic
- Ginger & Smart black cashmere jumper
- Country Road grey merino jumper
- Country Road cotton tights
- Country Road orange cords
- Thermal hiking socks
- Leather riding boots
- Burberry scarf
What do you wear when it’s a bit cold outside? Do you manage to keep it stylish or do you resemble the Abominable Snowman like me?
