I’m at the tail end of three weeks of sinusitis, complete with a charming post nasal drip-caused cough. Coughing until you throw up is really not a fun way to spend your day.
Add in stormy weather to the general “I feel like crap” mode I was stuck in, and the only option for dressing was comfy. Comfy doesn’t have to mean daggy though.
I loved wearing this outfit. I had a pop of colour, a touch of sports luxe, an arm party, a sparkly hair accessory, and a cheeky on-trend print. Best of all? I was warm and comfortable.
I teamed my More Issues than Vogue sweatshirt from Bianca May (now sold out) with an old pair of denim joggers from Seed.
Orange patent leather Tory Burch ballet flats added the colour pop I love to work into my outfits. My arm party featured pretty baubles from Blush & Co, Jet Empire Jewellery and Tiffany & Co. My vintage-esque crystal drop earrings were a present from Anna Nova.
I upped the glamour level of a dirty-hair-ponytail by twisting my hair into a teensy bun, and adding a pink embellished headband from Seed. Um, that would be Seed Kids. A great tip for adults with small heads is to shop for hair accessories in kids departments. Otherwise, I have to whip out my needle and thread to make them fit me!
A pop pink lip makes any girl feel better because it makes her look better. Pink is an instant prettifier, giving a pretty glow to the skin that you don’t necessarily have when you’ve been ill for three weeks straight! A groomed brow, a subtle taupe eye, lush lashes, a pink cheek and one minute’s worth of contouring and I’m good to go.
As I’ve aged, I’m spending a bigger proportion of my makeup time perfecting my base – smoothing, disguising, blurring, correcting. It’s all about the base, ’bout the base, ’bout the base, no trouble!
To act as Boyo’s chauffeur later in the day, I added my Seed tartan double breasted jacket, and carried my Colette by Colette Hayman mini tote – click here for more mini bag goodness.
The jacket is a little bit 60s, a little bit 80s, a little bit 90s, and very Kimba. Sorry, it’s all sold out online but you might be lucky and grab one from an outlet centre, if you have one near you.
Do you have more issues than Vogue?
