After years of styling absolutely everyone I know, and being unable to resist offering styling advice when shopping, I finally took a big step towards a lifelong dream. I attended a Personal Stylist Training course.
I researched my options and finally decided on Wendy Mak and her Smitten with Style course. An intensive three day course offering one day of classroom learning and two days practical experience on our feet whilst being patiently coached and assisted by Wendy.
I am delighted to be partnering with Wendy, so please keep an eye out for future posts about personal stylist training.
Let’s get on to the really important stuff – what I wore for my personal stylist training!
What I Wore Day 1 | Personal Stylist Training
Although there was no dress code, it never hurts to look the part. I wanted to wear something that made me feel comfortable, expressed my personality and showed off my individual style.
I selected a teal knitted tiered dress from Brown Sugar, which I teamed with Sussan midnight blue opaque tights. I layered a Zara hacking jacket over the top, and added coordinating Nine West ankle boots.
I continued the classic theme with my Sportscraft trench coat and my gorgeous Robin tan ladybag from Sterling & Hyde, plus a pop of fun with my See by Chloe cloth shopping tote and a Seed leather tassel.
Accessories were kept simple and pretty, with a rose gold Mimco bow clip, Each to Own glitter drop earrings, Uberkate silver heart pendant, and my Usual Suspect jewellery. My statement Mimco navy Sportivo timepeace, lavender Mimco enamel bangle and my Tiffany & Co Elsa Peretti bangle.
What I Wore Day 2 | Personal Stylist Training
As I was prepared to be on my feet all day, and also be trying on clothes in different stores as part of the training projects, I opted for comfort all the way for Day 2 of my personal stylist training.
I teamed heavy cotton track pant style pants with moto quilted and zipper details with a silk two tone beige and black knit, both from Country Road, with a Sussan collarless boxy jacket in lurex detailed snakeskin print. I added a vintage sheepskin collar, cleverly coloured to look like fur to my ensemble for a touch of Winter Luxe.
My bag was selected along the comfort lines too, with my prettily practical Jane bag by Sterling & Hyde being the clear winner. Nice and light in classic tan with the all important pockets and adjustable strap for a day bag.
I went with my Usual Suspects jewellery pieces again, and opted for Rockport loafers in classic buttercream leather. Comfort was the order of the day, and they did me proud.
What I Wore Day 3 | Personal Stylist Training
For my final day of personal stylist training, one of the exercises involved being a client for one of my fellow attendees. I had requested skirts in my styling profile, so I opted to wear an easily removable skirt with opaque tights and ankle boots so I could get a clear view of how the skirts would look.
I teamed black opaque tights with a Country Road embossed wool mini, a merino lace sleeved hi lo knit and an oversized Sportscraft long line cardigan. I added some pops of coordinating colour with an Alannah Hill hairbow, Pink Frosting necklace by Formed Design C0 and a printed silk cotton scarf by Front Row Society.
My Usual Suspects jewellery pieces were pressed into service yet again, with the addition of my pretty wedding pave diamond heart studs. I spent months looking for the perfect wedding earrings, and the Welshman presented me with these as a gift two days before our wedding. He’s a keeper!
My Seed black leather Acne Pistol-inspired ankle boots are surprisingly comfy, despite their decent heel. I carried my beloved Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q backpack, with the best colour name ever – Dirty Martini. Isn’t that fab?
I absolutely loved my Wendy Mak Personal Stylist Training and I’m really excited about moving forward and offering Kimba Likes personal styling, personal shopping and wardrobe consultation services.
