Favourite Day of the Week

Do you have a day which just makes you feel happier than any other day of the week?  Maybe you’re lucky like me and work four days a week.  Maybe you work on a roster and your favourite day of the week changes?  Are you someone who loves Monday morning, fresh as it is with the promise of a whole new week?

My favourite day of the week isn’t Saturday.  Saturdays are pretty awesome, of course!  Saturday even has its own soundtrack in our house.  But as special as Saturdays are, they’re just not Fridays!

I work four school hours day a week, and have every Friday off.  Friday is an awesome day – I get to have coffee with the Gorgeous Girls (well, skinny chai latte in my case), then go to Pilates, followed by a spot of shopping, fadmin and maybe some trashy TV and a chapter or two of my book.  I often treat myself to a little something from The Lab, Adriano Zumbo’s Rozelle cafe and kitchen.  Sometimes I trawl my local opshops and have a potter around.  Sometimes, I get some girly maintenance done, like a haircut or a manicure.  It is my day off, after all!

My favourite part of the day is when I pick Boyo up from school.  I love to see that smiling little face.  I know he’ll soon grow out of Public Displays of Affection with his Mama, so I’m soaking them up whilst I still can.

We may have a playdate planned, but it’s usually just the two of us.  Friday nights often find the Welshman networking in the pub, whilst Boyo and I eat delivery pizza from Crust (love the Philly Cheese Steak, minus the onions) and watch DVDs.  Boyo is on his extra specially best behaviour, so he can try and sneak past the regulation bedtime.

After Boyo’s asleep, I get some relax time to myself.  I might blog or watch an episode or two of Game of Thrones, and then the Welshman comes home.  I love having a chat to him at the end of the day as we’re snuggled up together.

Unfortunately, for the last couple of months, my hideous extended illness has benched me, and I’ve spent most of my Fridays napping on the sofa, trying to kick it to the curb.  I’ve had sinusitis, an ear infection, a chest infection and bronchitis, which has been giving me regular asthma attacks.  I’ve even got temporary lactose intolerance from all the antibiotics.  Oh, it’s glamorous!  I’m well and truly over it, and am so looking forward to having my Fridays back.

Do you have a favourite day of the week?  I’d love to hear all about it.

My favourite day is Saturday except when there is too much taxi driving from one sport to another (Sydney traffic is a biatch on Saturdays too). If there is no netball/soccer/basketball I like to disappear by myself to the local markets and op shops. As I work school days five days a week I’m looking forward to school holidays! I’ve been laid up with some ailments too and looked very similar to that little pug in bed.ReplyCancel

I hope you’re feeling better soon, Becci. It’s really got a grip on me this year. 🙁 We are terrible parents whose child doesn’t play weekend sport, so thankfully we don’t have to deal with that. I do love a wander around the markets and op shops too. So much fun!

I’ve always had a thing for Wednesdays. When I was 5 or 6, Wednesday meant ballet and dinner at McDonalds afterwards. When I was 16, Wednesday were early days plus Mr was in all of my Wednesday classes (I had a huge crush on him!) and now, Wednesday is daycare day which means a clean house and a bit of ‘me’ time.
Another great Write Stuff post! XxReplyCancel

Oh, thank you very much, Melinda. Means a lot to me x

Wednesday has its own merits too – it’s hump day, middle of the week, and ballet and fast food treats is an excellent thing to look forward to, not to mention spending all your classes with your crush! x So sweet.

And now daycare day – oh, sweet, sweet blissful me time! xReplyCancel
