Kimba Likes Borne Naked Bagvember : Day 7

Bagvember Day 7 and it’s parlez vous Francais as Boyo and I attend Le Grand Petit Dejeuner – the Big French Breakfast fundraiser at his school.  Croissants, chocolat au lait and French perfume, but sadly, no Chanel bag.  I’ve had to settle for Zara instead.

Boyo and I dressed in our closest approximation to French chic, ie, stripes, red, white and blue, with a little ooh la la with some black fishnets.  Boyo recycled his Melbourne Cup hat, a cream straw trilby that he insisted on wearing to school yesterday for “Hat  Day”.  He was the only child participating in Hat Day, just quietly.  He is so my son.

Tricoleur socks even

The bag du jour is a navy and tan shoulder bag from Zara with tweed lining and multiple pockets.  It’s really very practical.  It’s not my favourite bag by any means, but is very handy for days out and about.  I’m ashamed to admit this but I was one of the people queuing in Pitt Street Mall to get into Zara on their opening day.  I wasn’t quite such a fangirl as to get there at 6am – I waited til lunchtime and queued for about 10-15 minutes.

I bought this bag (about $40, I think) and some fabulous leopard pony skin loafers that I would have paid far more than their ticket price of $80 for, but I’ve bought very little from Zara ever since.  I’m thoroughly disappointed with it, after absolutely loving it every time I’ve been to London.

The outfit du jour is a little bit French today – I’ve paired black fishnets with sensible black Rockport wedges (so not chic but my sprained back is making demands on my style), a Cue high waisted peplum pencil skirt, H&M striped top and a vintage 80s Blooms melton cropped jacket.  I had the shoulder pads removed – as you do!

I’m distracting from my mad three day old hair today with a truly frivolous navy and diamante Alannah Hill hairbow.  They remind me of Minnie Mouse ears and that’s not a bad thing!  Au revoir!

So, what is this Bagvember stuff all about?

Have you heard about Borne Naked handbag liners?  I love to swap bags and I use mine all the time.

Amanda George from Borne Naked has a Handbag Blog, where she showcases everything handbags.  She’s a little bit obsessed (I know the feeling well!).

Amanda has issued a challenge for November.  Firstly, she’s nicknamed it Bagvember, and it’s all about changing handbags every day for the month of November.  Amanda thinks she probably has at least 100 bags.

I’m going to accept the challenge and change my handbag every day.  For reasons of practicality, I’m not committing to 30 handbags in 30 days, but I am committing to changing my handbag every day.

My darling 8 year old Boyo loved Frocktober and very proudly told everyone he met that his mama was doing Frocktober.  He brainstormed a pile of ideas for what I could do in November, and Bagvember was one of his ideas.  It’s fate really, isn’t it!  He also came up with Lipstickvember and Bravember and Knickervember.  Hmmmm …

Amanda will be posting pics of her daily Bagvember bag on FacebookInstagram and Pinterest.

If you feel like joining her (and me!), here’s the easy instructions of how to join in!
