Kimba Likes Beauty Duty - my beauty reviews of BioElixia Bodyshaper Multi Purpose Rescue Balm, Rimmel Wonder'full Argan Oil Mascara, Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation with Comfort Serum and Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight moisturiser

I’ve been very busy throughout October, testing out beauty products to bring you these beauty reviews.  I don’t believe in animal testing, and I’m pleased to report that all of these beauty products are cruelty free.  At Kimba Likes, we don’t test on animals.  We test on Kimba!

BioElixia Bodyshaper Multi Purpose Rescue Balm | Beauty Review

They say:

Take the hard work out of multi-tasking – this little beauty’s ready to leap to the rescue.

If life’s been less than kind to your skin lately, our multi-purpose rescue balm is here to help. Oh-so-gentle yet super effective, this dedicated all-rounder soothes, softens and calms the appearance of sensitive and irritated skin. It’s like an SOS rescue remedy in a tube.

Say sayonara to rough, red, or uncomfortable skin now with a hearty dose of natural ingredients like Vitamin E, Chamomile, Lavender and Rose floral waters, delivered straight to where your skin needs it most via our world-patented TPM® Dermal Delivery Technology.

Plus, you’ll get an extra boost of scientifically advanced goodness with our secret wonder ingredient, Vital ET. This, potent ingredient turbo-charges the humble Vitamin E, making it a must-have, to soothe the visible signs of skin redness and sensory discomfort. What’s in it for you? The feeling of rejuvenated, visibly healthy-looking skin.

Lightweight and easily absorbed, your skin will feel soft to the touch and ready to take on the world again. A dab on rough elbows, knees and heels will make them feel silky smooth in no time and it’s the perfect antidote to the drying effects of sun, wind and air-conditioning and soothes the appearance of redness from sunburn, razor rash… even nappy/diaper rash! Now that’s what we call multi-tasking.

Our Multi-Purpose Rescue Balm is also totally free from parabens, formaldehydes, sulphates, phthalates, artificial colours and dyes, SLS and SLEs and DEAs, so it’s safe for even the most sensitive souls.

Sensitivity and dermatologically tested.

Kimba Likes Beauty Duty - my beauty review of BioElixia Bodyshaper Multi Purpose Rescue Balm

Kimba Likes says:

Dear gods, this stuff is just fabulous!  It literally sucks the redness right out of your skin from any sort of abrasion, exposure or irritation.  Personally, I’ve used BioElixia Multi-Purpose Rescue Balm with great success on my dermatitis on my hands, flared up by allergens.  It worked a treat on the touch of sunburn I stupidly received from doing a spot of gardening and hanging laundry on an unexpectedly hot day.

Where it really comes into its own is on scratches and abrasions.  My little baby bunnies are enthusiastic climbers.  Bowie Bonbon’s favourite spot is on my shoulder, and Lord Carrot is a boob man, preferring to sit on my chest.  Whilst they certainly don’t mean to scratch, they’ve got sharp little claws, and leave red raised scratch marks on whatever piece of me they’ve elected to use as a set of stairs.  Honestly, they’re lucky they’re cute!

A little drop of Multi-Purpose Rescue Balm on a bunny scratch, and it literally disappears in front of your eyes, leaving the faintest line.  These disappear quickly too, in a matter of mere hours.

During the summer season, it has another fabulous purpose – dealing with insect bites.  Boyo and I suffer from allergic reactions, leaving us with raised lumps and itches that drive us to distraction.  The BioElixia Multi-Purpose Rescue Balm really helps to reduce both the inflammation and the itch.  A summer skin lifesaver!

I’ve also used it as an emergency night cream when on holiday – and left my skin smooth and comfortable.

Rimmel Wonder’full Mascara with Argan Oil | Beauty Review

They say:

  • Clump-free volume and definition mascara
  • Formula with Argan Oil
  • Full, perfectly smooth, clump-free lashes
  • Ultra-Flex brush hugs lashes defining them from root to tip

Unique formula with Argan Oil instantly adheres to lashes and dries quickly so lashes don’t stick together. Lashes feel conditioned, soft and flexible, for volume that won’t weigh you down. Ultra- Flexible brush and bristles hug and coat each individual lash, perfectly separating them from root to tip. Experience beauti’full volume and lash definition in one smooth, easy stroke – not a clump in sight.

Kimba Likes Beauty Duty - my beauty review of Rimmel Wonder'full Mascara with Argan Oil

Kimba Likes says:

I just love the flexible brush that sweeps along the eyelashes from base to tip, and the silky non-clumping formula.  The Argan Oil formula leaves the lashes looking glossy and feeling comfortable.

I’m really happy with the application process of this mascara, and the wear is excellent with no fallout. It seriously is clump free.  As I’m a bit of a drama queen when it comes to my lashes, I like to wear this mascara during the day on low key makeup days on its own.

For the added lash volume I love, I wear it with tightlined black gel liner (applied under the upper lashline) and layered with a mascara that gives me a more dramatic lash look, like Benefit They’re Real Mascara.

If you like a natural looking mascara, then I would definitely give this one a go.  If you like a dramatic lash, then I recommend wearing this as a lash primer, layered under another mascara, because the argan oil formula is just so comfortable on the lashes.

Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour Foundation with Comfort Serum | Beauty Review

They say:

  • Sweat, heat, humidity and transfer proof for up to 25 hours
  • Full Coverage Foundation enriched with a comfort serum
  • SPF 20
  • Dermatologist tested

Kimba Likes Beauty Duty - my beauty review of Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation with Comfort Serum

Kimba Likes says:

I’m not quite sure how they’ve managed to produce this foundation for such a low price.  It stacks up well against some really expensive brands.

Although it is a full coverage formulation, it doesn’t leave the skin looking mask-like.  I can’t vouch for the 25 hour wear, because I’m old and I need my sleep, and so many years of removing my makeup every single night has left me very well trained.  I just simply can’t sleep with makeup on – I’d give myself nightmares!

It applies easily and blends beautifully – I trialled using my fingers, a foundation brush and a Mecca Cosmetica Artistry Blending Sponge.

The first day I trialled this foundation was the perfect opportunity to test out the sweat and humidity proof claim.  My weather app said 33 degrees, but in the midst of the Norton Street Italian Festa, with the heat of the road surface combined with the sweaty masses of people and the reflected heat of all the delicious food trucks, it was considerably hotter.

It would be fair to say that I had a bit of a glow on – but my makeup Did Not Move.  Kudos for surviving those seriously steamy conditions!

The only drawback to this range is that the colours offered are quite limited, with only five available.  I wore the Light Nude, which was the perfect colour for my pale neutral toned skin.

Kimba Likes Beauty Duty - my beauty review of Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight moisturiser

Kimba Likes says:

I was really pleased with the cushy feeling of this night time moisturiser on my skin, and I definitely noticed that my skin looked plump and smooth in the morning.  Fine lines were reduced and the usual overnight smooshes were definitely lessened.

It absorbed well and really did leave my skin looking lush when I woke up.  However, it has quite a strong earthy smell which I actually found quite off putting.  I wear perfume oil to bed, and have a scented candle on my bedside cabinet because I find it helps me to drift off to sleep.  However, the product smell overpowered even that.

Perhaps it wouldn’t be such an issue for someone who doesn’t rely on scent as part of their bedtime routine, but for me, it was enough to rule out purchasing this product.  It is a real shame as the product truly works a treat.  I’m just too fussy, I guess!

Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight Moisturiser | $80 60mL

Beauty Duty | the October Beauty Review lowdown

I received samples of all of these products to enable me to test them for review purposes.  Which products passed the Kimba Likes test?  Which products would I purchase with my own money?

  • BioElixia Bodyshaper Multi Purpose Rescue Balm | absolutely! I will never not be without this product!
  • Rimmel Wonder’full Argan Oil Mascara | definitely! I love the full yet natural result.  The price belies what a fabulous mascara it is.  Because it is such good value, I am happy to layer it with other mascaras when I want a more dramatic lash look.
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation with Comfort Serum | yes ma’am! I am definitely more of a BB Cream and powder girl than a foundation, but the lasting finish of this foundation for very hot steamy humid conditions impressed me, and I would definitely repurchase.
  • Philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight moisturiser | I can’t quite believe I’m saying this as the results are really fabulous, but the smell was the deciding factor in saying “sorry, not for me” when it came to this moisturiser.

Yeah, I’ve never understood white lash primers. No one wants white lashes and it’s really hard to cover all the primer sometimes. Using this Argan oil formula works a treat. The brush really gets to the teensy ones too. Let me know how you get on!ReplyCancel
