I shared in my newsletter recently about my date night plans. We had been planning a night out at QT Sydney for quite some time – ever since I was super impressed with my QT experience at the Gold Coast ProBlogger event in 2014.
The perfect opportunity arose when Boyo was invited for a sleepover with his mate. A 24 hour sleepover. Bring on the date night at QT Sydney!
QT Sydney | accommodation
Oh, the rooms! Quirky little details abound. Like a top hat lamp. Divine bed linen. Emu-legged side table. Sheepskin. Display cabinet of vintage cocktail glass. There was even a bunny in the bathroom.
Oh and the bath. Did I mention The Bath?
QT Sydney | what to do
If you get sick of hanging out in your divine room, head on down to the fabulous QT Sydney guest lounge. Decorated with industrial chic cabinets packed with gorgeous goodies to purchase, and groups of comfy chairs and tables.
Where to eat and drink? Take your pick of bars – the Gilt Lounge, Gowings Bar & Grill and Parlour Lane Roasters.
Head down to SpaQ and get spoilt rotten. I chose to spend my downtime in Pitt St Mall, but the Welshman opted for a retrocute shave at The Barber Shop.
We dined at Gowings Bar & Grill, with pre-dinner cocktails. I decided to roll with the theme and continue the cocktails throughout our meal, whilst the Welshman opted for a bottle of red.
My only reservation with Gowings Bar & Grill was, in fact, the reservations. As they operate a two sitting system, we opted for the early sitting. Big mistake. Huge! The wait staff were run off their feet busy, polite yet distant, and our food was delivered extremely promptly. Speed seemed to be the order of service.
We realised this was due to the 500 OAPs who were also dining – before they headed next door to the State Theatre to see the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. There’s nothing quite like a sexy dinner date with your husband – and an 80 year old who wants to have a chat.
Still a gorgeous dinner date, though! Once the theatre patrons had departed and the second sitting dinner guests started arriving, the whole vibe changed. Now that’s more like it!
QT Sydney | what I wore

I’d had my makeup done earlier in the day – thanks to Mecca Cosmetica Beauty Loop benefits. I wore NARS Lip Pencil in Damned and Ellis Faas Skin Veil foundation, along with NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in silvery-pinky tones.
I treated myself to a new frock – a gorgeous black strapless column dress from Country Road, which I found in their Birkenhead Point outlet store for $49.95. That’s a sweet $200 discount. I teamed it with a vintage-from-my-closet Veronika Maine sequin waterfall jacket, Leona Edmiston Pins fishnets and Sambag heels in plum patent.
I accessorised with Adorn Collective statement necklace from Styling You Shop, Mimco pave crystal dome studs and Jessica Bratich clutch. I added a little arm party action with my Usual Suspects Tiffany & Co Elsa Peretti Open Heart bangle and Honeydew & Violet Organic Halo bangle, plus a sweet little Forever 21 cuff I picked up in my shopping foray.
The dress was so perfectly boned that it sat better without my strapless bra on underneath. I know right. I couldn’t believe it either.
Have you visited QT Sydney? What did you wear for your last date night? How awesome are the lovely friends who took my kid for 24 hours?
