Frocktober 2017 | the first 10 dresses
The money raised by Frocktober fundraisers goes toward their ongoing research into an early detection test for ovarian cancer.
One Australian woman dies every 10 hours from ovarian cancer. Every 10 hours. Just let that sink in for a minute.
Ovarian cancer is known as the silent killer as the symptoms of this vicious disease don’t often make themselves obvious until the cancer is at an advanced stage.
That’s why frocking up is so much more than just outfit shots. It is bringing together a community of women who are putting themselves out of their comfort zone to ask you very politely to donate funds to this worthiest of worthy causes.
Frocktober 2017 | my first 10 dresses
Forest green cord wrap dress from Gorman, worn over Ruby & Lilli tank, teamed with Kate Spade bag kindly gifted by Shopbop and Ziera sandals.
Rasaleela Clothing maxi dress with gorgeously embroidered bodice, worn with Rockmans denim jacket, and accessorised with blush pink Ziera sandals, vintage 70s YSL bag and Atelier Bingo x Gorman hairbow.
Sports luxe style with COS tunic dress worn over Gorman leggings, teamed with Adidas Superstars and Gorman Zissou sunglasses.
School holiday Mama style with Gorman chambray dress worn over Uniqlo denim leggings, with Mimco sunnies and Ziera sandals.
Out for a family staycation lunch at Hugos Manly wearing Gorman Crystal Clusters dress with Swarovski lavender crystal and Mimco sunglasses.
Team Stripes with my kindly gifted Philosophy Australia T shirt dress and French Connection bow tie kicks, with a trusty Rockmans denim jacket, Gorman sunglasses and Atelier Bingo x Gorman La Banane hairbow.
Yes, I’m wearing jeans in Frocktober, but I have topped them with a dress! My Ric Rac Gorman dress works back with my super fun frill hem jeans from Big W for a hippy dippy look. I’m accessorising with Mimco sunglasses, Monika Forsberg x Gorman Buggin’ earrings, Gorman Sunday denim flats and Gorman Fable hairbow.
Love is love and I love this fun City Chic sundress! I’ve accessorised with Sambag polka dot ballets, Gorman denim anorak, Gorman sunglasses and Mirka Mora x Gorman hairbow, for a trip to Balmoral, my favourite Sydney beach.
Feeling the Antipodean love with this Frocktober outfit. Strictly speaking, it is a faux frock with matchy matchy top and skirt, but don’t tell anyone. My beautiful polkadots are by Philosophy Australia (and made in Australia too!), my sandals from New Zealand company Ziera, hairbow by Top Knot Girl for Girt Squad, and sunglasses by Australian company Gorman.
Wrapped up my first 10 days of Frocktober 2017 with a classic wrap dress from Australian label The Perfect LBD, kindly gifted.
I’ve layered it over a Verily tank slip and added my sparkliest rainbow mermaid unicorn sandals from Gorman.
It’s not too late to join in the Frocktober fun with Team Style File! You can make a donation (thank you!).
You can talk to your friends and family about looking out for the symptoms of ovarian cancer. I’ve listed the four most common symptoms, which unfortunately are all too often written off as part of a woman’s normal busy life.
- increased abdominal size or persistent abdominal bloating
- needing to urinate often or frequently
- feeling full after eating a small amount
- abdominal or pelvic pain
If you experience these symptoms, then make diary notes and take it to your GP for a chat.
You can also raise funds and awareness by tagging #stylefileFROCKTOBER every time you wear a frock this month, and include our link for your friends and family to donate to the OCRF.
Thank you so much to all of you who have gotten behind this amazing project! Frock on to frock cancer!
