I’m joining Emily of The Beetle Shack to share photos of our week.
Oh my goodness! Christmas Party Season is well and truly upon us. Here’s our weekend of festive parties.
Kimba Likes Friday | OOSH Christmas Party
Boyo is lucky enough to attend the most fabulous Out of School Hours care (OOSH) ever. They are genuinely lovely people who really care about the kids they look after and are constantly looking for ways to improve their service. Boyo started skateboarding because OOSH organised Skater HQ to provide lessons as part of the after school program.
Their annual Christmas party is the stuff of legends. Jumping castles, petting farm, pizza on site and a jolly good catchup.
On Friday, I danced in the garden with Boyo for our morning Every Day Style photoshoot. I thrifted a fabulous vintage silk Liberty tie, which I have plans to turn into a hair bow. We ate pizza and chatted with friends. Boyo and I fell in love with a widdle wabbit and Boyo even picked up a chick! Of the, ahem, fowl kind. Later on, I snuggled up with the Welshman with some delicious Saint Agur cheese on Scottish oatcakes. Friday rocked!
Kimba Likes Saturday | Christmas with Friends who are Family
The gorgeous family with whom we celebrate Christmas every Boxing Day are off to England, Denmark and Paris this festive season. We had an awesome Christmas on Saturday instead.
Miss Sally Bunny is holidaying with us whilst her family are gallivanting in Europe. Mr Bunsy is a little bit confused but I think they’ll be great friends. Or not. We’ll see.
Such a lovely day with such gorgeous people. As two families of expats, living away from our families, we have created our own extended family circles. Our kids are like cousins. We drank Champagne, cheese on crackers, steak, salad and a truly festive dessert of Christmas pudding, mince pies, brandy custard, ice cream, double cream and fresh fruit!
We ended the evening with a little whiskey tasting. Every single one was my favourite! The great thing about whiskey is that I need but a mere mouthful to enjoy. It’s drinking without a hangover. Don’t rely on this rule if you plan on taste testing 47 different whiskeys, ‘kay?
Kimba Likes Sunday | Christmas with the Gorgeous Girls
You’ve heard me talk about my Gorgeous Girls – here they are! We were celebrating Christmas, a newly renovated back garden, the return from New Zealand from one family for the holidays, Year 6 graduation for the Delightful Daughters and whatever else could possibly be celebrated!
A get together with the Gorgeous Girls involves Champagne with a capital C, cocktails, fabulous food. lots of laughter and gorgeous giggles and completely bonkers children. The Handsome Husbands have informed us that they’d rather be referred to as the Mitches. OK then.
One of my Christmas party festive tips is to make sure you drink a glass of water for every glass of alcohol. One really good way to achieve this is to have a mojito and when it is finished, leave the delicious muddled limes and mint and top up with sparkling water. Multiple times. Works a treat!
Here’s a little group of images from our lovely holiday last year. We spent New Year’s Eve in Auckland city, then headed up to Hot Water Beach with my Bro, before ending up in Rotorua to catch up with The Mother and her husband Baz.
This year, Boyo and I are heading to Christchurch to spend some time with my Dad and catch up with my brothers and grandparents. Can’t wait!
