Life Hacks for New Shoes | Big Foot

The best time to buy new shoes? In the afternoon or evening.  Yep, it sounds silly but our feet swell during the day.  By up to half a size.

So the pair of shoes that you buy at 9am might just be too tight by 4pm.  Here’s to late night shopping!

Even the most perfectly fitting shoes can be a little bit uncomfortable.  The best way to wear them in is by wearing them to work for the day and walking to and from the bus stop.  Oh wait … no, that’s the second worst way to wear in new shoes.  The absolute worst way to wear new shoes is barefoot on a big night out, especially when they’re killer heels.

The best way to wear in new shoes is with a thick pair of socks, and around the house.  Sitting on the sofa watching TV for the evening? Pop your socks and new shoes on!

Awesome tips! The owner of a fabulous shoe store here in Adelaide told me to stretch my shoes by wearing them around the house with pantyhose for 10-15 minutes at a time on 3 different occasions before wearing them out. She said the pantyhose heats up your skin temperature which then warms and gently stretches the shoes.ReplyCancel

AH the old “I’ve got new shoes and I can’t wait to wear them to work!” blister/sadface/bandaids/change to comfy yet very well worn work ballet flats by lunchtime . . . . I have no idea what you’re talking about.ReplyCancel
