What Kimba Likes says:
I love BB Cream. I really, really do. I’m finding that I almost never use a liquid or cream foundation now. Instead, I apply a BB Cream every morning, touching up with concealer and powder as required.
I have tried many BB Creams, ranging from about $60 to $10. The Rimmel BB Cream falls at the budget bargainista end of the price spectrum. I’m impressed at the quality of coverage and long lasting ability of Rimmel, and the Light is a perfect match for my pale skin tone. Often the palest shade in BB Creams, where there are a range of colours, is too yellow for me.
Rimmel BB Cream is extremely well priced at $12.95 and easily available from your supermarket or Priceline. Sneaking beauty essentials into the grocery budget is a win win, don’t you think?
Recently, I was offered the opportunity to trial the newest formulation of the Rimmel BB Cream, the Rimmel BB Cream Matte. Whilst I was trialling this product, I wore it almost every day for a week. A week I happened to have the flu. I was told that I sounded sick but I didn’t look sick, as my skin looked so beautiful. I’m chalking that up as a win for Rimmel BB Cream Matte.
I don’t have particularly oily skin but I did find that the Matte formulation lasted longer than the original formulation. Despite being a Matte formulation, it didn’t leave my skin looking flat, like some products I have tried. My skin looked velvety and smooth with a natural finish.
The tube pack contains a relatively liquid cream formulation, and a little goes a very long way. I apply it with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, buffing into my previously moisturised skin. My BECCA Foundation / Concealer Brush perfect for smoothing the BB Cream around my nose and eyes. I have found that I can get away without using a concealer with the Rimmel BB Cream Matte – but as I’m a makeup junkie, I usually prefer to pop some on anyway!
Would I repurchase?
For the price, I will definitely be repurchasing the Rimmel BB Cream Matte. It is the perfect size for travelling, wears extremely well and doesn’t turn me yellow or orange like many BB Creams I’ve trialled do. Plus you cannot beat the price – nor the opportunity to sneak it into the grocery budget!
Beauty Duty | Gwen Stefani for OPI Collection
What they say:
Over & Over A-Gwen – Glamorous Gwen’s signature shade … ravishing red
In True Stefani Fashion – Don’t gotta be a hollaback girl to love this holographic silver glitter
Contains no DBP, toluene or formaldehyde. Features OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush.
What Kimba Likes Says:
OPI is a cult classic for all the right reasons. It is excellent quality, with a huge array of colours and constant improvements in nail technology. I adore nail lacquer but I’m not terribly patient nor skilled at nail care. I also do far too many activities that destroy nails and manicures, like gardening and the dishes. You know, like the normal person I am and not the princess I fondly imagine myself to be.
I adore OPI for their sweetly quirky names, seasonal colour collections and their nail care products. Chip Skip and Expert Touch Lint-Free Nail Wipes are two products I will not be without. Honestly, it’s the little things that make the difference for me.
I was lucky to receive two shades from the Gwen Stefani for OPI Collection. Over and Over A-Gwen is a classic creme red that evokes Old Hollywood glamour, much like Ms Stefani herself. I received the set containing nail art glue, studs and crystal. In True Stefani Fashion is a gorgeous clear lacquer with holographic silver glitter.
For the Kidspot Voices of 2014 launch events, I treated myself to a pedicure and manicure utilising the glamorous red Over & Over A-Gwen. The nail technicians were very impressed by the signature packaging of the shade. There is nothing that makes you feel quite so glamorous as a professional mani pedi, especially when I’d just had my hair done too. Primped and polished is my idea of heaven!
The colour lasted beautifully on my fingernails for three days – I’m extremely hard on polish as I have very weak nails. It lasted for more than a month on my toenails, with a quick home touchup. The patented ProWide brush makes it so easy for even the klutziest of people to apply. Yes, that would be me.
In True Stefani Fashion is just a gorgeous lacquer – perfectly pretty on its own for a subtle manicure with a glitter twist. Equally gorgeous as a dramatic topcoat to add some rock chic to your mani.
I think you’re either a Guns & Roses or a Bon Jovi fan. You either love the blonde ambition of Madonna or the Hollaback Girl glamour of Gwen Stefani. There’s no doubt that I’m a Gunners and Gwen fan girl! I’m absolutely an OPI groupie. There’s no doubt. See what I did there?
If you are looking for a classic red, you cannot pass the traditional glamour of Gwen’s signature shade.
Would I repurchase?
I will definitely buy and use OPI again, but probably not these shades. They’re really lovely but with OPI, the colour range is so vast that it seems a shame not to try a new one or three!
Have you tried the Gwen Stefani for OPI collection? Are you a BB Cream fan girl too?
