Style Icons | DvF Wrap Dress

DVF wrap dress
I have adored participating in the Fox in Flats Style Dares over the years.  Such fun to decide what I’m wearing for the day based on the March Style Dare a Day daily prompt.  I’m sharing what I wore for Style Icon, one of my favourite prompts from this month.  I have many style icons, so I mixed it up a bit.  I selected some style icon designers, an iconic item of clothing, and Elizabeth Taylor and her bold brows.

The star of the show just had to be my DvF wrap dress.  The wrap dress is a style icon in its own right, designed in the 70s by Diane von Furstenberg, another of my style icons.

I was super lucky to find this lovely Diane von Furstenberg piece in my local Red Cross.  Yes.  Really.  I think I paid under $20 too.  Yes.  Really.  You would dance in the streets too!

Kimba Likes Style Guide | DvF Wrap Dress

This outfit is a  perfect example of my Kimba Likes Style Guide, utilising my Four Cs.

My classic basic is my Mimco black leather sandals.  My colourful piece is the gorgeously patterned DvF wrap dress, which coordinates beautifully with the pink Oroton silk scarf worn as a hair bow and my Metalicus slip.  My clashing piece is a gorgeous cobalt leather handbag from Sterling & Hyde, (which also coordinates with my Mimco Sportivo watch).  The watch was a gorgeous gift from my mother for my Big Four Oh My Gods.

Another nod to one of my style icons is my bold brow and red lip, inspired by La Liz Taylor.

I’m also flying the flag for some of my favourite Australian brands.  Oroton, represented by the silk scarf.  Mimco, represented by my bangle, watch and shoes.  Sterling & Hyde, represented by my bag.

Popbasic is my modern muse style icon, the baby of an Australian living in America.  I’m wearing the Sugarplum earrings from the Melodie collection.

Just couldn’t resist sharing these fun photos with my lovely little dude, my Boyo.  When he is with me, he looks just like me.  When he is with his Dad, he looks just like him.  We definitely know the IVF lab didn’t make a mistake!

The bottom left hand photograph looks just like my Dad on his wedding day.  Same slicked back hair and the exact same eyes.  They got married in 1972 but from the photos, it could be in the 1960s.  So young, so innocent, before the Grizzly Adams beard  years!

forty plus style
I’m so excited to be linking up with my gorgeous, both inside and out, friend Rachel from Redcliffe Style.  She’s launching a fabulous new linky party today.  Forty Plus Style is all about showing off how fabulous 40+ ladies are.  Hola!

If you don’t blog, you can still join in the fun!  Just tag @redcliffestyle and #fortyplusstyle when sharing outfit photos on Facebook and Instagram.
