Three Parsons Maxi Dress

When you’re parents, you take your dates where you can get them.  Trust me on this one.  Think $100 to your night out budget to pay for a babysitter, before you’ve even paid for a cab or a glass or wine.

So when you discover your kid and his mates have co-opted a mama friend into hosting their Minecraft hangout, you book tickets and go out!

The Welshman booked tickets to the Pop to Popism exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW in about 10 seconds flat.  We had planned to have lunch at our wedding venue, the Hyde Park Barracks Cafe, after a wander through the Botanic Gardens.

Unfortunately the super duper hot weather saw us heading to the cool environs of our local, the Three Weeds in Rozelle instead.  We have to walk past two other pubs to get there, but it’s still our local.

Of course, I had to dress up.  It was a date!  Yeah, it started at 10 o’clock in the morning, but it was the Welshman and me.  By ourselves. Seeing an exhibition. By ourselves. Like grownups.  I know right?!

The exhibition was fabulous.  So amazing to see in person those iconic images like Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe and Lichtenstein’s In The Car images.  To see the pencil marks where he carefully marked out where to paint the iconic painted dots was awe inspiring.

What I Wore | Three Parsons Dark Navy & Cream Maxi

Kimba Likes Three Parsons Maxi Dress

I just adore this gorgeous one shouldered Three Parsons maxi dress with a drawstring waist.  The waist means it can be adjusted to suit the figure, and worn high waisted and blouson-style, or low waisted.

The dark navy and cream print is striking yet simple.  You might recognise the beautiful print from my Christmas Festival style.  I wore the Dark Navy Cream Print Jumpsuit on Boxing Day. The one shoulder style is not one I frequently wear but I like it!  Surprisingly sexy, as it reveals the decolletage – collarbones and the line of the neck and shoulders – whilst covering cleavage.

The cut of the arm, with one shoulder covered and one bare, is preferable than spaghetti straps.  These often serve to highlight size of arms, whereas the draping on this one shoulder dress flatters.

The draping continues down one side of the skirt, which creates a flowing yet streamlined look. A small side split on the opposite side makes for ease of walking.

Now, let’s talk boobs.  As a girl with EnormoBoobs, I found the Three Parsons Maxi Dress incredibly easy to wear and would recommend it.  You need to pair it with a decent strapless bra, but let’s be honest.  Why would you wear a crap one?  No one wants pancake boobs that sit on their hips, right?

Often when I wear a strapless dress, I’m conscious of creepage.  Nope, not just pervy blokes.  My dress creeping down isn’t good.  My dress creeping down whilst my bra does the same? Very bad.  Very very bad.  The cut of the dress reveals whilst concealing.  I felt sexy and comfortable – now that’s a winning combination!

I’ve accessorised with a simple navy neutral palette.  My beautiful Murano glass and gold earrings were a Big Four Oh My Gods gift from our friends-who-are-family.  My Mimco Sportivo Timepeace, a gift from my mother for my Big Four Oh My Gods, works back beautifully with my Fitbit.  Walking around a gallery is a great way to get your steps up, by the way!

A simple silver and leather arm party, with my Honeydew & Violet tan leather wrap bracelet and Usual Suspects Tiffany & Co Elsa Peretti Open Heart bangle.  I’ve worn it every single day since I received it for my 30th birthday from the Welshman.  Hair tamed courtesy of some gold Mimco pins.

I’m carrying my go to girl, my Il Tutto Pixie Mini bag in glam gold.  It just goes with absolutely everything, can be carried as a clutch, bandolier-style or as a shoulder bag, has multiple pockets (that actually hold stuff!) and I don’t think I could love it more.

Simple nude leather flat sandals by Ziera were comfortable to walk in, but chic for day with their plaited leather cross over feature and zipped ankle feature.  They’re a few years old now but I’m hoping they bring this style back.  I shall be very sad when they finally need to shuffle off this mortal coil.

  • Raychael aka Mystery Case - 11 February 2015 - 9.32 am

Looking gorgeous Kimba. My Jawbone UP had to be replaced this week, I ended up going with another one but almost tempted by the Fitbit as they were down to just $99 at Target this week.

I’m not normally one to wear bracelets but since wearing the UP, I think I may need to invest in a couple of Jet Empire ones, so the device blends in when I’m heading out for the night.ReplyCancel
