Thursday Tips, Tricks and Life Hacks | chocolate box jewellery storage

A great way to store little fiddly bits of jewellery is in a repurposed chocolate box.  The little pockets make the perfect place to make sure you can find a pair of earrings in a hurry without rummaging through a box, plus it keeps them protected.

You can stack them in a drawer, or store them in a pretty cardboard box or basket on a shelf or perhaps under the bed or chest of drawers.

You can make it pretty with a little Cheaty McCheaty decoupage – scrapbook elements and clear packing tape.  Click here for a similar example

Kimba Likes Thursday Tips // label and date individual servings of leftovers in freezer storage bags. It's healthier, less wasteful and great for emergency dinners

Thursday Tips, Tricks and Life Hacks | freezer bag leftovers

Got leftovers?  Store them in individual serving portions in freezer bags.  Use an old plastic box with a missing lid to stack them neatly in your freezer.

Make sure you date them and adding a description is a good idea too.  The date is a great way to make sure you’re not eating something out of date, and the description? Always handy once it all looks the same in the freezer!

Individual serves come in really handy when you’ve got busy nights with after school activities, and saves you preparing three or four different meals.  Tell me we’re not the only ones who do this?!

Kimba Likes Thursday Tips // an easy peasy lemon squeezy photo backdrop

Thursday Tips, Tricks and Life Hacks | photo backdrop

Need an emergency photo backdrop for a pretty picture?  Find a well lit spot and spread out a piece of brown parcel paper.  It gives a neutral plain background, adds a bit of hipster chic and looks lovely!  Plus, if it’s a bit rumpled, all the better.

I saved some wrapping paper and folded it neatly inside one of those faux book storage boxes.  It looks lovely on my bookshelf and is easy to grab when I need to snap a picture.

If you’ve got a fabulous tip, trick or life hack you’d be happy to share with me, please let me know!  I’d love to add it to my Thursday Tips, Tricks and Life Hacks project.  Please email me at

Does it mean I need to buy a box of Ferrero Rocher’s? OK!

I’m a big fan of making individual freezer portions and have to label them as curry all starts to look alike once frozen!ReplyCancel

Yes! I did a freezer cleanout recently and I threw out lots and lots and lots of unidentified food. I know it’s really Captain Obvious, but man I wish I’d labelled them earlier! I even have bags with a date and description label on them!ReplyCancel
