Trousday : Farewell Frocktober

Frocktober has been and gone.  I managed to pull off 31 dresses in 31 days, including wind, rain, heat, bike riding, injured backs and even going to work.  I raised $400 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, and I’m feeling pretty damned proud of myself.

Now that Frocktober is all over, red rover, I’m declaring it to be Trousday!  Trousday may continue for at least a week – but there are no hard and fast rules.  I’m looking forward to wearing whatever I feel like for a while!

I’ve coined a new word for today – Trousday – which loosely translates as “first day after Frocktober and I can wear trousers!”.

These fun printed pants are from Sussan.  The Welshman very rudely refers to them as my “jazzy pants” which is an item of clothing, usually elastic-waisted, worn by ladies of a certain age with matchy matchy outfits.  Pfffft, what does he know?

Clearly, they are on trend printed pants.  Duh!  I’ve teamed them with my Portmans satin tuxedo jacket and a silk tee in mint from Sportsgirl.  It was such a bargain at about $60 that I think I even paid retail, and may need to go back to get a few more in different colours.  So easy to wear, so comfortable and so flattering.  The magic trifecta in an item of clothing.

My Marc for Marc Jacobs Classic Q backpack in Dirty Martini has come out to play today, as well as my favourite summer sandals, my little Wittner ivory flats.

My Topshop metallic necklace made a guest star appearance today, and my lovely Cara turquoise bead bracelet from Luxe by Lulu, along with my rockstar-esque classic Rayban Wayfarers.  Not quite so rockstar is the fact that they are multifocals.  Shhhhhh …

I’m enjoying participating in Seven Days of Selfies with Alyce of Blossom Heart Blog, featuring charming tales of life in Japan.  She tweets and Instagrams as @blossheartblog and the hashtag is #7daysofselfies.  It’s not too late to join in!

Here is my Day 6.  I’m cheating a little bit because I just had my makeup done by the lovely Amanda at BECCA David Jones.  She reminded me of how to properly do the “push and wiggle” technique on my upper water line.  The difference it makes to your lashes is amazeballs.  I tried the new BECCA Radiant Skin Foundation, as well as Beach Tint in the gorgeous Raspberry colour.  I’m such a huge BECCA fan, and these two products will be added to my favourite list, no doubt!

Did you participate in Frocktober?  Do you think you will next year?  It was a load of fun, but I can’t tell you much I’m enjoying wearing pants today!

Oh, it’s really good. If you’re used to BECCA, then make sure you go and get colour matched at the counter because the colours are not the same as previous foundations, even though some have the same name. They’re definitely more yellow. There is one neutral-pink. The wear is fabulous though and the finish is gorgeous!ReplyCancel

Thank you Vicki. I didn’t raise a heap of money but $400 is pretty good going! 🙂ReplyCancel
