A whole year ago, Rachel from Redcliffe Style and I launched a 5 Day style challenge to celebrate the beginning of my favourite style season – Winter! We called it the Winter Luxe Style Challenge and challenged people to add a winter luxe element to their #everydaystyle with Styling You.
It took on a life of its own and lasted for the season. It evolved into Spring Fling, Summer Style and Autumn Style. Here we are, a year later, back to Winter Luxe. I love a full circle, don’t you?
Winter is my favourite style season because of the fabulous luxe layers and tactile textures. Touchable fabrics like suede, velvet, fur and cord. Luxurious layers of cashmere, merino, and jersey, teamed with denim, ponte and leather. Completed with cute hats, fluffy textures, snuggly scarves and chic boots.
Winter Luxe Style Challenge | what I wore
I’m sharing some recent examples of my Winter Luxe style, as I got a sneaky jump on Winter Luxe in the weekend.
I had a rather fabulous weekend with a romantic lunch with the Welshman at Cafe del Mar on Saturday, and a Millinery High Tea at Embellish Atelier on Sunday.
For my winter date day, I snuggled up in fluffy fur t teamed with a glamorous zebra print dress by Three Parsons. I received this gorgeous dress as a gift. You might remember I wore the summer version of the Essential Dress for Frocktober last year. It was so popular that it has returned for winter, in plain black, Snakeskin Print and Zebra Print.
I added a DECJUBA fur vest to amp up the luxe and warmth. Because too much black scares me, I added navy leggings by Flower Clothing, anchored with Country Road brogue-style Chelsea boots.
Prettiness was added with my Blush & Co Marble on Blush necklace, The Jewel Collective Andromeda earrings teamed with mini rose gold hoops, and my Usual Suspects Honeydew & Violet and Tiffany & Co bangles.
For my Sunday style, I got a little frocked up again for my Embellish Atelier Millinery High Tea experience. (More on that later!).
This graphic Leona Edmiston dress is such a hero piece. It makes a statement all on its own, yet feels as comfortable as wearing a nightie.
I played up the green element in the dress with another pair of Flower Clothing opaque leggings – this time in olive green – and a Boohoo blanket cape in khaki with black elements. The black details tie back perfectly with my Country Road black ankle boots and Oroton mini bag. I don’t do matchy matchy but I do like to work a little coordinated style.
My weekend Winter Luxe style was all about a striking pattern teamed with luxe elements and coordinating colours, teamed with boots and snuggly layers.
