Well, it was fun whilst it lasted! Sarah from She Writes and I have absolutely loved hosting our Winter Style File 14 day style challenge. The style challenge has ended, but we would love you to keep sharing and caring.

We love checking out what women wear in their daily lives. It’s a great way to check out trends, talk about our favourite brands, share information about fit on everyday women wearing their everyday style.
Let me show you how I styled the second week of Winter Style File.
Winter Style File – pink til it hurts
On Wednesdays, we wear pink. Get in the car loser, we’re going shopping!
I shopped my wardrobe for this outfit. I love changing over my wardrobe every season. It’s a LOT of work, but I get to rediscover lots of old friends and do a massive cull. So refreshing.
I teamed a vintage fur collar, rescued from an vintage wool coat, with a pretty in pink Elizabeth Hurley for Queenspark knit, Veronika Maine brocade tulip skirt, coordinating opaque tights, and Forever New patent flats. In fuchsia pink, of course!
Winter Style File – in the trench coat
Is there anything more classic than the trench coat? I don’t really get behind all those Must Have Wardrobe Essential lists with the 10 Pieces You Must Own and Every Woman Needs. I look terrible in a white shirt. I am never going to need a matchy matchy skirt-trousers-blazer suit. I don’t really like black, especially for parties, so I’m more Little Colourful Ensemble than Little Black Dress.
Yet, I truly believe that everyone needs a good trench coat. Effortless chic, and just as good over a prom dress as ripped jeans and a T shirt. Plus, as many of you pointed out, it invokes a certain sexy image of the nude-but-for-her-trench stiletto heeled woman knocking on her lover’s door. Ooer matron knickers trousers slippers. I clearly need to get out more.
I teamed my classic Sportscraft trench coat with a Country Road check shirt (oh hello Style it Project!) pinned at the neck with a vintage cameo brooch, 17 Sundays denim and Planet Shoes Hawthorne ankle boots.
Wrap it up already! Those 17 Sundays jeans were so comfy I wore them the next day too. I layered my Empress Eleven Cross My Heart wrap top over Ruby & Lilli Coral Bay Dusk tank. I added some Country Road coral striped socks for no other reason than they made me happy, and my ancient and much beloved Country Road chelsea boots.
PS – Ruby & Lilli are having a massive sale and you can get an extra 10% off with code KIMBALIKES10
Winter Style File – pom pom & ceremony + tassel appreciation society
So, apparently pom poms were a bit tricky, so I threw Tassel Appreciation Society as a prompt in at the last minute. I’m rather fond of both retrocute forms of decoration.
Want to hear a super cute tassel story? The Blokefolk accompanied me to a designer market a few years ago where Boyo spotted a rather fetching pair of tassel earrings that he just knew I’d love for my birthday. The Welshman swiftly diverted him for they were, in fact, not earrings but rather fancy burlesque tasselled nipple pasties. Sweet!
Sparkly pom poms from my vintage Alannah Hill beanie and pretty tassels from my Ruby & Lilli Saltwater tassel bracelets.
Winter Style File – plaid is rad
Ooh, feeling chic! I’ve been eyeing up the Bohemian Traders plaid boyfriend shirt for months. Spend & Save time, and I added it to cart stat. Then I spotted the plaid shirt dress and I was all loveheart eyes. Check it out, because plaid is rad!
Super excited about my duster coat too – brand new from Sizeable. I’m proud to be a Sizeable Ambassador. I adore the Sizeable philosophy of shopping by five body types. I identify most with Busty as my EnormoBoobs are a size bigger than the rest of me.
Pssst … eyes peeled for a post next week featuring this gorgeous piece.
I added navy City Chic opaques, Hush Puppies suede ankle boots and my Michael Kors Jetset tote from Shopbop.
Winter Style File – fluffy fur
Holiday Monday – happy birthday Queenie!
Look, I will take any excuse to wear this ridiculously fun Bohemian Traders faux fur jacket. It’s just so lush!
I teamed it with a classic cotton stripe knit, and comfy suck ’em in jeggings. The jumper is from the men’s range of the Jean Paul Gaultier for Target collection. This makes it nice and snuggly and oversized. Oh yeah!
My Tummy Trimmer jeggings are from Crossroads. Loved last year’s version, and the new and improved version this year are even betterer. As one would expect.
Winter Style File – leather luxe
Leather and leopard? Match made in style heaven. I layered Empress Eleven Black Betty top over Long Line Tunic, and teamed with Rockmans biker jeggings and Hush Puppies ankle boots.
The star of the show is my Jean Paul Gaultier for Target leather jacket. I missed out on the women’s one when it sold out in a flash. However, a few weeks ago I was in my local Target when I spotted a whole rack of leather jackets. My heart beat a little faster and then sunk when I realised they were all men’s jackets.
When common sense struck, I grabbed a size Medium (a nicely slightly oversized fit) and hit the tills! Best of all, this little baby was in the 75% off clearance sale and set me back a mere $75. Hola!
